History[]

Dr. Eggman's Birthday[]

Several Buzz Bombers, along with many other Badniks worked together to give Dr. Eggman a nice birthday by trying to destroy Sonic for him. However, they were ordered to return to base by Eggman before they could commence their attack.[1]

Recent past[]

DeadlyBadniks

The Deadly Six controlling a Buzz Bomber, from Sonic the Hedgehog #20.

At some point in the past, Dr. Eggman took many Buzz Bombers to the Lost Hex for "The Lost World Project". They were soon taken over by the Deadly Six after Sonic the Hedgehog unwillingly freed them. Regardless, Sonic soon put a stop to their evil deeds, relinquishing their control of the Buzz Bombers.[2] Later, after Sonic thwarted Eggman in their last encounter, the doctor disappeared while his Buzz Bombers and the rest of his Badnik army remained. Without a leader however, the Buzz Bombers were directionless and no longer a unified threat.[3] Even so, they would still randomly attack anyone they came across[4] (although such incidents were more accidental than aggression-based[3]).

Fallout![]

Eventually, the Buzz Bombers came under the control of Neo Metal Sonic, who made them and their fellow Badniks more cohesive.[3][5]

BuzzBomberIDW

A Buzz Bomber battleship, from Sonic the Hedgehog #4.

Soon after, a giant Buzz Bomber battleship arrived at Spiral Hill Village, where it deployed a nearly endless stream of Badniks to attack the village with. Eventually, Sonic the Hedgehog arrived to help defend the village. With the aid of Tangle and Blaze the Cat, who was also at the site to help the village, Sonic successfully boarded the giant Badnik and trashed it from the inside, which caused it to fall from the sky. Before the Buzz Bomber battleship could land on Spiral Hill Village however, Blaze diverted its crash-course with a beam of fire, causing it to land in the empty outskirts of the village.[6]

Tangle & Whisper[]

Several regular and two battleship variants of the Buzz Bomber were provided to Mimic by Dr. Eggman (who had recently regained his memories) so that he could attack Tangle the Lemur and Whisper the Wolf at the former Diamond Cutters' base. One Buzz Bomber battleship was shot down by Whisper, which forced it to crash into the other Buzz Bomber battleship and fall into the Clove Sea. The other regular-sized Buzz Bombers attacked Whisper but were soon defeated.[7]

Test Run![]

A group of Buzz Bombers would later guard an Eggman facility on the coast where Eggman was testing out his Quasi-Badniks.[8]

Imposter Syndrome and Trial by Fire[]

When Dr. Starline took over the Eggman Empire, he sent out an override code that brought Badniks all over the world under his control, including the Buzz Bombers. While the Buzz Bombers in Eggperial City would escort Starline to his new seat of power in the city, the remainder of them would make their way towards Eggperial City upon Starline's command, eventually arriving in said city in droves.[9] While the Buzz Bombers on route would ignore the people they met along the way however, they eventually began attacking Sonic, Tails, and Belle not too far from Eggperial City when they tried to stop Motobud. However, they abandoned their attack after Belle cut Motobud's power, and continued their march towards Eggperial City.[10]

Battle for the Empire[]

StH50-Badniks

Buzz Bombers and other Badniks surrounding Sonic, Tails, and Belle, from Sonic the Hedgehog #50.

After Dr. Eggman regained control over his Badniks, the doctor had the Buzz Bombers and other Badniks in Eggperial City surround Sonic, Tails, and Belle.[11]

During their escape from the Eggperial City, Sonic, Tails, and Belle were pursued by the Badnik Horde, with two Buzz Bombers being among them.[12]

Familiar Territory[]

A Buzz Bomber attempted to shoot Sonic and a citizen during an attack in Vista View, but the both of them dodged the attack. The Buzz Bomber was likely destroyed by Sonic and the citizen, though it is not shown.[13]

Urban Warfare[]

Several Buzz Bombers and Zoomers would attempt to fight Sonic, Tails, Amy, Blaze, Silver, and Team Dark, but were later destroyed.[14] Later on, when Eggperial City began to collapse in on itself, the remaining Buzz Bombers and Zoomers attempted to fly away before the city exploded (though it is unknown whether or not they escaped).[15]

Relic Robbing Rumble[]

Several Buzz Bombers and other Badniks helped defended the Egg Base Delta against Knuckles, Vector, Espio, and Charmy when they broke into the city and began attacking them (due to the heroes thinking that Dr. Eggman and his Badniks were the ones who stole their relic). However, once Dr. Eggman informs Knuckles and the Chaotix that he had nothing to do with stealing their relic, the heroes would then stop attacking the Buzz Bombers and other Badniks before proceeding to leave Egg Base Delta.[16]

Powers and abilities[]

Thanks to their wings, the Buzz Bombers are capable of flight.[6] They are also equipped with stingers that can fire laser shots at their targets.[7]

Personality[]

While built to serve as work drones, Buzz Bomber units possess a degree of sentience and personality traits. These traits include fawning over Dr. Eggman and trying to give him a great birthday on their own volition.[1]

Variants[]

Battleship variant[]

The battleship variant of the Buzz Bombers are dropship-based Buzz Bombers used for carrying Badnik soldiers and cargo. Each of these robots are about the size of a small town, but their design is overwise the same as the lesser Buzz Bomber model.[6]

Thanks to its massive wings, this giant variant of Buzz Bomber is capable of flight. It also is able to store a large number of smaller Badnik soldiers and Motobug tanks inside of it. Its offensive capabilities are unknown, however.[6]
