The Secret Bonus (シークレット ボーナス, Shīkuretto Bōnasu^?) is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are small emblems that the player is able to earn at the end of certain stages.

In Sonic the Hedgehog (16-bit), Secret Bonuses appear as emblems in the shape of the title screen. They are are always located past the Goal Plates and Giant Rings at the end of both Acts of each Zone. Their location is dependent on which zone the player is located in. These objects activate when a player Spin Jumps in certain places after passing the Goal Plate at the end of each level. Scrap Brain Zone act 2 is the only act that does not have these emblems hidden at the end. As they can title, they will grant 100, 1000 or 10000 points for the player.

Sonic Lost World

In the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World, Secret Bonuses make a reappearance. Unlike the original Sonic the Hedgehog, the player has to jump on the Capsule to end each Zone. Depending on the position that the player lands on the Capsule, they will earn Secret Bonuses, which, also unlike the original Sonic the Hedgehog, come in increments of 100, 500 and 1000. These will pop up on the screen after opening the Capsule. The player can easily get Secret Bonuses by jumping from far away or performing the Bound Jump.

Trivia

• In the original Sonic the Hedgehog, 100-point Secret Bonuses are actually only worth 10 points due to a flaw in the programming.
