The Festive Forest is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Trap Item used primarily to obstruct opposing rivals' path.
Description[]
The Festive Forest's icon takes the form of a sparkling decorated Christmas tree. In gameplay, this power-up becomes the aforementioned three decorated Christmas trees, and a green and red present in the lane that the player was running in.
Overview[]
In gameplay, the Festive Forest can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Snowdrift Sonic. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Festive Forest if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Festive Forest by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Festive Forest will sprout three trees some distance ahead of the user's current location on all the lanes that the user is not currently on. On the lane the player was running on, a present will be there instead as sometimes which features the unique perk of acting like an item box that replenishes the user's item (just like other Item Boxes). If a character collides with any of the trees, including the user themselves, they will take damage, causing them to lose Rings and slow down momentarily. In addition, characters who have hit a trees will be followed by green pines for several seconds that will make them lose speed. To avoid the Festive Forest, the playable character must jump over the trees produced by this power-up or run in-between them.
The Festive Forest can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. For each upgrade, the Festive Forest's damage will increase.
