- This article is about the boss in Sonic Superstars. For the boss from Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble, see Fang the Sniper (Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble).
Fang the Hunter in Sonic Superstars is a boss fought on different occasions. He is fought twice throughout the game.
Golden Capital Zone[]
In Golden Capital Zone, Fang serves as the eighth major boss in both the Main Story and Trip's Story in Sonic Superstars, as well as the fourteenth boss in general. He is fought as Sonic the Hedgehog, Miles "Tails" Prower, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna and Trip the Sungazer at the end of Act 2.
Boss guide[]
The player fights Fang on a hovering platform that act similarly to the Sky Chase styled gameplay in some ways. This boss fight against Fang is split into multiple phases, with each phase separated by a period of dodging flame and lava obstacles.
For the first phase, Fang has 2 attacks. For the first attack, Fang flies to one side of the screen and fires waves of energy pellets from his Marvelous Queen in a spread-shot pattern that the player must avoid. For his 2nd attack, he flies into the background and fires laser beams into the ceiling and floor. These lasers do not damage the player but they cause lava to erupt from the area that was hit. This could range from lava shooting up from the bottom of the screen to lava dripping down from the top. After 2 hits, Fang retreats and the player has to dodge fire-based obstacles while he upgrades his vehicle. Then the second phase begins. He gains 2 new attacks that he uses exclusively in this phase. For the first attack, he builds up a shield made of blue hexagons which turn red after a short time and then he shoots them away. Otherwise the attack pattern stays the same but now Fang also fires three lasers towards the player during his first attack. After another 2 hits, he will upgrade his vehicle and the player will have to dodge fire obstacles once again. Then phase three begins. Now Fang will fire missiles at the player from the background and the player will have to dodge both the missiles themselves and falling debris. He then flies in and uses the lasers pods he used before, but this time they slowly fly around Fang. He will also shoot waves of energy pellets during his shield attack (that now has many more hexagons for protection). After another 2 hits, the boss will be defeated.
Egg Fortress Zone[]
In Egg Fortress Zone, Fang serves as the eleventh and final major boss in Trip's Story in Sonic Superstars, as well as the eighteenth boss in general. He is fought as Trip the Sungazer at the end of Act 2.
Boss guide[]
Fang starts phase one in a massively upgraded version of his Marvelous Queen. In the first phase, Fang takes 6 hits to beat. The player is on a wavy platform that loops around the entire arena. Fang attacks by launching volleys of missiles at the player that must be dodged. Fang will then fire laser lines from pods that kill the player in one hit. These lasers will rotate forward along the platform and Fang will be vulnerable to being hit after performing this move. He then repeats the missile attack before using a new attack. For this new attack, he summons 4 purple hued holograms that fly down into the ground in a certain pattern. The player can hit Fang as he dives down if they jump into the side of the real Fang's ship during the attack. After the first 3 hits, Fang will start launching a lot more laser lines.
In phase 2, Fang uses his giant mech based on himself. For the first attack, Fang launches a wave of Anton badniks at the player. Running around to the back of the robot and hitting a badnik while it is in the air will allow the player to launch it back at Fang and damage him. Fang will then summon multiple sets of 3 laser nets (in two different patterns) that spawn in based on where the player is located. These laser nets trap the player and leave them stuck but they can be mashed out of if the player is quick. Immediately after summoning these nets, Fang fires giant corks out of his robot's fists. Fang fires multiple times at the player's position and they are a one hit kill but they travel decently slowly (however they can very dangerous when the player is caught in the previous laser net attack). Fang will also at times fire loads of bombs from his robot's shoulders that each split into two bouncing bombs upon hitting the floor. Half of the newly split bouncing bombs are blue and can be jumped or rolled into to damage Fang (as long as you are behind him). Over the course of the fight, Fang's attacks get more dangerous and faster. After 7 hits, he will gain an attack where he slams his mech's giant hands and face into the platform (destroying some of the platform but leaving himself open before the platform is fixed). After 2 more hits Fang will be defeated.
