The Fairy Ring is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Projectile Item used primarily to attack rivals.
Description[]
The Fairy Ring's icon takes the form of two fairy Chaos, with pink swirl aura surround behind them. In the gameplay, the user will send the Chao down on the track leaves the aura and trail in its wake.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Fairy Ring by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the user sets loose a fairy Chao that travels down the lane they were deployed on in front of the user. After flying down the lane for a moment though, the Chao will ricochet in the opposite direction on the lane they are on. If a rival character is hit with the fairy Chao, they will be slowed down momentarily and a fairy Chao will float around the top of their head. In addition to this, a curse is placed on the player and the next power-up they click on at the bottom of the HUD will be destroyed and rendered unusable. The curse will be indicated by a third of the HUD circle's arc glowing gold. A rival character can only take the hit from three of the Fairy Ring at a time; when this is done, the full HUD circle will glow golden. Additionally, one fairy Chao will appear over the rival character's head depending on how many times they were hit with the item. However, if any character has four fairy Chaos in any moment, all of those Chaos will disappear, causing the player much higher damage, lose even more Rings and slow down for couple of seconds. In addition, the Fairy Ring can travel through obstacles but will be disabled after hitting rival characters. To avoid the Fairy Ring, the playable character has to step out of its lanes or jump over it.
The Fairy Ring can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 6, 12 and 18 respectively. For each upgrade, the player will get the chance to obtain more Fairy Ring to use in the Projectile Item slot from a single Item Box; at level 6, there is a chance of getting two Fairy Rings; and at level 12, there is a chance of getting three Fairy Rings. Except for level 18, however, the Fairy Ring will deal more damage.
Trivia[]
The effect after hit the rival characters is similar to all of Mephiles the Dark's power-ups. The rival character will have fairy Chaos and shadows at the same time, despite having stack damage with respective power-up (require four fairy Chaos or shadows to do so).
