The explosive crate[1] is a variant of containers that appears in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). When destroyed, it releases a powerful explosion.

Description

The explosive crate has the same dimensions as the regular wooden container. However, it is instead made of metal, colored black with edges frames and is emblazoned with a white and red flame-symbol. They can be found everywhere in the game, and are arguably the second-rarest form of container.

When destroying an explosive crate in gameplay, it releases a small explosion that deals one hit worth of damage to all enemies in the near vicinity. However, the player is unaffected of the explosion, meaning they will not take damage. The explosive crate is very fragile and will detonate if hit by anything, so it must be handled carefully. Additionally, the explosive crate is useful for gaining extra points; if the player detonates it inside a cluster of enemies and it manages to take them all out, the player will earn bonus points.
