The Energy Inhibitor[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It was a device created by Dr. Robotnik as it means of preventing the exponential growth of the Zone of Silence.

Heart Of Darkness[]
Dr. Robotnik gave the Energy Inhibitor to Sonic the Hedgehog after he destroyed his Photon Cannon, which he had previously been used to keep the Zone's expansion in check. Sonic took it with him as he, Sally Acorn, and Geoffrey St. John entered the Zone in a bid to rescue Maximillian Acorn, Sally's long-lost father. However, deteriorating conditions forced them to activate the Energy Inhibitor, which prevented the Zone's expansion but also forced them out of it before they could save Maximillian.[1]
