The Energy-draining Sneakers[1] are an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. They were created by Dr. Robotnik, so Sonic couldn't compete in his Olympic trials.
History[]
Robotnik challenged Sonic if he could beat his robots in one of four Olympic events, he would return Mobius to normal. If he or the Freedom Fighters didn't win any events, then they would all be roboticized. Sonic accepted the challenge, and during a swim, a SWATbot swapped his sneakers with the energy-draining sneakers. When Sonic was warming for the events at Robotnik Stadium, the sneakers drained him of all his energy, and he couldn't get up. The Freedom Fighters then hopelessly competed against Robotnik's badniks. Thankfully, Tails found Sonic's sneakers in a dump and returned them to him before the last event was over. Sonic confused a Buzzbomber, who was racing Antoine, to go backwards. This made Antoine win and caused Robotnik to flee since Sonic was back to normal.[1]
