Emerald Ocean is a course that appears in Sonic Drift 2. It is a racing track located out on the sea and surrounds an island. It is the fourth course in the Blue Chaos GP.

Description

The setting of Emerald Ocean is the open ocean with tropical isles dotting it. The region where Emerald Ocean takes place is out on the coral azure sea with a tropical and lush green island located in the direct center of it. The sky of Emerald Ocean is clear and blue, and is only covered by clouds in the far distance. In the background, there is also a completely open view of the ocean with a few brown and green islands that can be spotted in the horizon.

The racing track in Emerald Sea is located on the surface of the sea, far off-shore, and encircles the entire island in the middle of the region. The road of the racing track is nothing but the water surface of the sea, which has been drawn up by different colors, meaning it is composed entirely of water and has no solid surface. The area of the sea that marks the road is checkerboard patterned in different shades of blue and have blue and white striped edges. Throughout this racing track at sea, there is also occasionally rocks sticking up from the depths.

Gameplay

In Hill Top, the player's objective is to get the top position in the race. Racing outside the border of the track will cause the player to lose speed immediately. Additionally, there are Rocks both on and outside the racetrack that will cause the playable characters to come to an immediately stop, spin out of control and lose a Ring if they collide with them.

Because the racetrack takes place on the surface of the sea, if the player slows down too much on this course, he/she will sink down into the water. If that happens, the player falls off the road and must wait for a giant metal crane to drop him/her back onto the racetrack, which can cost the player a lot of time. Also, slowing down on certain parts of this course will cause the player to slide sideways towards the water.

Overview

In Emerald Ocean, the player races on a circular racing track encompassing the entire map. Additionally, the racing track is littered with different power-ups and objects that the player can utilize. Here, the player's objective is to complete three laps of the racetrack. The fastest racer to complete three laps is rewarded with a Chaos Emerald.
