If you are looking for the stage remake in Sonic Generations, look here.

Emerald Coast (エメラルドコースト) is the first Zone in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. It is playable by E-102 Gamma, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Big the Cat. It is also a board in Sonic Shuffle.

Emerald Coast reappears in Sonic Generations for the Nintendo 3DS.

Sonic Adventure

Sonic

In his first stage of the game, Sonic races across the picturesque beaches of Emerald Coast, searching for Tails, who has crashed his prototype plane somewhere in the area. Despite the expected serenity of the gorgeous beaches, it is populated by a number of Eggman's destructive badniks, as well as an Orca that seems to be in a bad mood. The presence of hostile robots seems to have forced beach-goers to temporarily vacate the coast, leaving Sonic on his own impromptu race course to dash through.

Big

Big the Cat has entered this gorgeous locale to once again fish for Froggy. Due to the stage being located literally right next to a vast expanse of ocean, Big has many other fish to distract himself with catching. If Big is equipped with the Life Belt, he may just discover a secret area with even more fish for him to catch. The part of Emerald Coast that Big fishes in is located in Sonic's "Azure Blue World" section of the stage, right after the whale chase. In the end, he finds Froggy, only to be stolen by E-102 Gamma. This is his third stage.

E-102 Gamma

E-102 Gamma has entered Emerald Coast (Naturally, against the wishes of the hotel management) to find and capture Froggy for his master, Dr. Eggman. Though he only travels through a small section of the first part of the stage (this being due to a lack of agility and speed that hampers him from traveling to more of the sections Sonic explored), there is a surprisingly large number of Badniks for Gamma to use as target practice while he searches.

This world exists for lovers of the sun, but Void's magic is causing the tropical paradise to experience a rather unseasonal ice age. Note that you can only move underwater for 5 turns: fail to cross a bubble square within the limit and you'll be booted back to the surface. Sea turtles act as stepping stones, but can't be crossed when submerged. Toward the end of the stage, the wooden ship in the lower portion of the arena takes to the sky and flies away, eliminating a valuable shortcut. Land on the Quest square and you're given 8 turns to return a beached dolphin to the sea. Complete the stage to initiate the Sonic Surfing minigame. If the player was first, the next cut-scene is shown and you enter the next board, which is the Fire Bird.

Emerald Coast reappears in the new game Sonic Generations for the 3DS in the Dreamcast Era as a stage that both Classic and Modern Sonic have to travel through. The Orca that originally chased Sonic appears in both the Classic and Modern versions of the stage.
