Elder Jay is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog novels published by Virgin Books. Despite her title, she is a young girl. She is also the granddaughter of Elder Kay and the leader of the Science Council.[2]

Appearance[]

Normally, Jay wears a golden robe. Underneath it, she has a T-shirt reading "I'm the boss" in golden letters, and brightly colored stretchy leggings.[2]

History[]

Sonic the Hedgehog in the Fourth Dimension[]

Elder Jay met Sonic and Tails when they were caught by the Time Police and brought to Elder Kay. Jay thanked Sonic for "doing a great favor" and bringing back a prototype time machine. She rewarded him with a meal, offering fancy foods, but Sonic wanted fast food to fuel himself. She then got on her bike and left for her room.

Much to Sonic's surprise, the room looked like the bedroom of a 9-year old. Jay took off her heavy robe and lamented about how the Mythos Creatures were attacking, and how difficult they were to kill as they kept approaching. As they ate when the fast food was served, Sonic explained the history of him and planet Mobius.[2]

Later on, Elder Jay represented the Science Council in the court against the Mythos Creatures, where she was asked to explain why she hated the Mythos Creatures. She explained that the Mythos Creatures should not exist at all since they were beings of magic and imagination, and thus did not conform to the laws of science. Jay then asked if she and Arctur the Dragonkin could work together, and Jay asked the court to see what descision was necessary. In the end, the science council voted for peace. Arctur agreed with this, and peace was settled. She then flung herself at Sonic and gave him a kiss on the cheek before shaking hands with Arctur.[3]

Personality[]

Despite her responsibilities and title, Elder Jay is a stereotypical young girl, being rather messy and showing interest in things like ponies, comics and pop bands.
