While they were battling, Sonic the Hedgehog and Dr. Robotnik briefly arrived at the Great Pyramids of Egypt in country's desert region through a Ring. There, Sonic briefly blinded Robotnik in his Eggpod with a sandstorm he stirred up before trying to escape to Green Hills through another Ring he opened at the top of one of the pyramid. Robotnik, however, recovered quickly, and managed to blast Sonic through his Ring and onto the main street of Green Hills before heading through the Ring himself.
