Eggman Island (エッグマン島 Egguman-tō?)[1] is a location in the Sonic the Hedgehog series and the primary location of the arcade game SegaSonic the Hedgehog. It is small island split on seven zones with many dangerous hatches being set by Dr. Eggman. The island is connected to the mainland by a long bridge.

History

When Sonic the Hedgehog, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel were captured by Dr. Eggman, they were taken to Eggman Island, filled with killing machines and death traps, for the purpose of executing them. However, trio escaped, but was flung to the other side of the island during their attempt and thus began crossing the island to confront Eggman. Eggman himself watched the escapees through a monitor for his amusement from the main computer room located on the top of Eggman's Tower, where he would use various devices to try eliminating the trio

As soon the trio found the computer room, Eggman activated the self-destruct mechanism of the island and fled. If the player cannot leave the tower within the time limit, it is an instant Game Over; if the player leaves the tower in time, the trio will survive and escape the island. After the credits, Eggman's own luck runs out as the Egg Mobile runs out of power high above the vast waters.
