Eggman Island[1] (エッグマン島[1] Egguman-tō?), alternatively known as Eggman Island Zone[2], is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a small island owned by Dr. Eggman that was destroyed by the doctor himself, though it was eventually rebuilt.
Description[]
Eggman Island is a small island located somewhere in the ocean. The island had many natural environments, including volcanoes, deserts and frozen landmasses. A long bridge also appeared on Eggman Island, possibly to connect it with another landmass.
Eggman Island featured numerous defense systems, including giant seesaws, lasers, tornadoes and robots. All of these traps could be controlled at the computer room in Eggman's Tower. There was also a self-destruct mechanism that could destroy all of the island in a matter of seconds.
Sometime after, the island was completely rebuilt with sharp, metallic plants and a fortress hidden in a mountain with Eggman's face on it, not unlike the mountain near Never Lake. It is unknown if any of the areas from the previous iteration were recovered, however.
History[]
SegaSonic the Hedgehog[]
In SegaSonic the Hedgehog, when Sonic the Hedgehog, Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel were captured by Dr. Eggman, they were taken to Eggman Island to be executed. However, the trio escaped their jail cell, but was flung to the other side of the island during their escape attempt and thus began crossing the island to confront Eggman. The doctor himself watched the escapees through a monitor for his own amusement from the main computer room located on the top of Eggman's Tower, from where he used the island's various death traps for attempts to eliminate the trio.
As soon Sonic, Mighty and Ray found the computer room, Eggman activated the self-destruct mechanism for the island and fled. Despite the odds though, the heroic trio escaped the island before it exploded. Meanwhile, the villain's own luck ran out when the Egg Mobile ran out of power high above the vast waters.
