Dr. Eggman, Sonic Adventure

The Egg Walker (エッグウォーカー Eggu Uōkā?) is the final boss in Tails' story in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. The player encounters the Egg Walker right after completing Speed Highway as Tails.

The Egg Walker is a rather gigantic vehicle created by Dr. Eggman, that has four legs, two missile launchers and an arsenal of projectile weaponry. After Eggman's attempt to destroy Station Square via missile is foiled by Tails, the doctor loses his temper and faces the young fox with the Egg Walker.

SA1 EggWalker

Tails facing off against the Egg Walker in Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut.

The battle takes place in the Casino District of Station Square. Different sets of Rings can be found from either the center of the road or behind parked cars. Right after the start, the Egg Walker launches missiles towards the player. After a certain amount, the Egg Walker starts moving back and forth in the area while dropping bombs around it. After a while, Eggman then activates flamethrowers to burst large flames into the air while the Egg Walker keeps moving.

If the player gets near to the Egg Walker, Eggman activates one of four legs to do small shock waves. At first, he only uses one leg at the time. When this happens, the gloving part of the knee becomes the Egg Walker's weak spot. The player has to perform Tails Attack/Rapid Tails Attack to hit the weak spot and make the whole vehicle fall down for a limited amount of time in order to hit the cockpit. After taking one hit, the Egg Walker gets up and leaps to the other side of the area to repeat its pattern. However as the player keeps doing damage, Eggman will use more than two or three legs to do shock waves and the player has to hit all three weak spots to make the Egg Walker fall down. However if the Egg Walker is moving while doing shock waves, Tails is unable to hit the weak spots.

After doing five hits, Tails destroys the Egg Walker, much to the admiration and joy of the residents of Station Square and the player has finished the Tails' part of the story.

Trivia

  • Like Egg Hornet and Egg Viper, Egg Walker's code name is "EG2". The code name is displayed below the windshield of the walker.
  • Tails' confrontation with the Egg Walker is later mentioned in Sonic Adventure 2, where a news article read that he was given a Chaos Emerald the following day for his bravery in defending Station Square from a missile attack.
  • The Egg Walker is about 30 feet tall.[1]
  • There is a leftover debug feature that allows the player to make the Egg Walker advance to the next cycle of its attack when pressing Y Button Dreamcast. For example, pressing Y Button Dreamcast while the boss is stamping its feet on the ground will instantly cause it to walk over to the other side of the arena.
