— Description, Sonic Unleashed[1]

The Egg Typhoon[1] (エッグタイフーン[2] Eggu Taifūn?) is an enemy that appears in Sonic Unleashed. They are a mass-produced, fan-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman. These robots have the ability to blow fierce winds at their opponents.

Appearance[]

The Egg Typhoons are bipedal robots with torsos resembling round mechanical fans. They have a pair of small stubby legs on the bottom of their torsos and long segmented arms on the side of them. Sitting on the top of their torsos are two round cyan lights, serving as their eyes. They are mainly mint colored with silver highlights.

Overview[]

The Egg Typhoons can be encountered in both the daytime and nighttime Action Stages/Stages of Sonic Unleashed. In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed they appear in the nighttime Cool Edge Act 1, the daytime Skyscraper Scamper Act 1, Shamar's Entrance Stage and nighttime Arid Sands Act 1, and in the Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed, they appear in Chun-nan Night Act III: Path to Darkness and Adabat Night Act I: Starry Night.

In battle, the Egg Typhoons attack whenever they spot Sonic by periodically expelling wind currents for several seconds. In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version, whenever the Egg Typhoons are knocked away from their original position, they will dance around for a few seconds before resuming their attacks.

The Egg Typhoons are usually placed where they can knock the player into a bottomless pit with minimal effort. In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version, whenever the player is hit by the Egg Typhoons' attack, Sonic will be left immobile for a short while, though Sonic can get back on his feet faster by repeatedly pressing XboxA/Cross.

In the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed during nighttime Action Stages, the player can use the Egg Typhoons' attack against other enemies. By grabbing an Egg Typhoon, the player can use the Egg Typhoon's wind breath by pressing XboxY/PSTriangleButton while controlling the direction Sonic is facing with the Analog Stick. Enemies hit by this will be blown away.

Personality[]

The Egg Typhoons appear to have a somewhat playful side, humorously dancing around in a ballerina-like fashion every now and again.

Powers and abilities[]

The Egg Typhoons are able to blow gale-force winds of such strength that they can tear people to shreds and knock even Sonic the Hedgehog/Sonic the Werehog off his feet.[1]

In the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by IDW Publishing, when Metal Sonic used his V. Maximum Overdrive Attack to damage Sonic, Tails, and Belle's stolen escape aircraft, an Egg Typhoon was among the group of Badniks tossed aside by the crashing ship.[3]
