Template:Item The Egg Typhoon (エッグ・タイフーン Eggu Taifūn?), originally known as the Egg Typhoon-gou (エッグ・タイフーン号?), is a racing kart owned by Dr. Robotnik (known to his fellow racers as the "Eggman"). It is used by Eggman in both Sonic Drift and Sonic Drift 2.

Description

The Egg Typhoon's design is loosely based on the Eggmobile's design as it was in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but without the wings, tail pipes and circular back plate. The Egg Typhoon is a small, single-man hovercraft in a hemispherical shape, with a black circular underside and a thick metal gray rim that is adorned with a black and yellow hazard stripe on the outside. On the front it has a circular nose cone that covered by a piece of metal plating, and have a small yellow windshield above it. On the inside, the Egg Typhoon has a yoke for piloting up front and a single-man brown and black striped seat that fills up most of the inside.

In Sonic Drift, the original Egg Typhoon-gou had additional instruments on the inside surface and the logo of the Eggman Empire adorning the seat. In Sonic Drift 2, the Egg Typhoon machine was slightly remodeled, having lost the additional instruments as well as the Eggman Empire logo on the seat.

Game Appearances

Sonic Drift

The Egg Typhoon-gou made its first appearance in Sonic Drift as Eggman's racing vehicle in the game. In this game, the Egg Typhoon has good top speed, but poor acceleration. Its exclusive special ability is dropping mines on the race tracks after the player has collected two Rings. If these mines are touched by the opponents, they will lose Rings and spin out of control on the racing track for while.

Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld

In Sonic the Hedgehog's Gameworld, the Egg Typhoon-gou reappeared alongside the other three racing vehicles in Sonic Drift. In this game, the Egg Typhoon-gou is used in the "Car Race" minigame as Robotnik's vehicle, where the player has to race around the circular track in an one-lap kart race.

Sonic Drift 2

The Egg Typhoon returned in the sequel to Sonic Drift, Sonic Drift 2 where it again served as Eggman's racing vehicle. Like in Sonic Drift, the Egg Typhoon has poor acceleration, but has exceptionally good cornering abilities. It also maintains its ability to drop land Mines on the race tracks which will cause those that touches them to spin out of control on the racing track for while.
