For the vehicle that appears in the Sonic Boom series, see Egg Tank (Sonic Boom).

The Egg Tank[1][note 1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, beetle-based Badnik created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

With bodies in the shape of tanks, Egg Tanks are orange-red, beetle-like robots with black underbellies and four mechanical treads as "legs". The front treads in particular are small and long while the rear treads are large and tall. They also have a long cannon barrel for a nose and green eye-like sensors on their faces.

Game Appearances[]

Sonic Forces[]

The Egg Tanks make their first appearance in Sonic Forces, where they appear exclusively in Mortar Canyon and Enemy Territory. In gameplay, they usually appear in groups and stand firmly in one spot, where they attack by firing a steady stream of straight-moving projectiles that can do damage when they impact the playable characters. However, the projectiles they fire can also be targeted (and destroyed) with Sonic and Shadow's Homing Attack. Like most Badniks in the game, they can be easily destroyed with any standard attacks.

Since their projectiles are fired rapidly in straight lines, Egg Tanks often create "stepping stones" for the player to skip across using the Homing Attack.

Shadow Generations[]

Egg Tanks reappear in Shadow Generations, appearing in Sunset Heights and functioning similarly to how they would later behave during the War to Take Back the Planet, due to White Space's time anomalies, though one Egg Tank during Act 1 of the level will speed to the spot it stands firmly on before firing its projectiles.

Powers and abilities[]

Possessing large cannons for horns, the Egg Tanks are able to fire cannonball-sized bullets. During the Time Eater/resurgent Black Doom incident, they have speeds rivaling that of Shadow's.

Trivia[]

  • The Egg Tanks look and fight similarly to Blaster, a Badnik that first appeared in Sonic & Knuckles. However, Blasters are always moving and their projectiles will hurt the player, whereas Egg Tanks are primarily stationary and have projectiles that can be Homing Attacked for progression.

Notes[]

  1. While not listed in any instruction manuals or games, the internal files in Sonic Forces refer to this enemy as Egg Tank.
