The Egg Press[1] (エッグ プレス[2] Eggu Puresu?) is a vehicle that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a modified Egg Mobile created by Dr. Eggman, who used it during an attempt to establish the Eggman Empire.
Description[]
Appearance[]
The Egg Press looks similar to the Egg Mobile, being a round pod with a single-seat cockpit inside. It possesses mainly an orange color scheme with a small blue windshield on the front of the cockpit and a red seat. It also has a single headlight on the front, a yellow rim with vents around its horizontal middle, bolts in various places (including two large ones below the front), and a gray casing with yellow and black hazard stripes on the sides. Lastly, it has a large gray spring with a metallic foot attached to its lower end.
Features and abilities[]
The Egg Press can bounce thanks to its pogo spring. It can also create shockwaves when landing after particularly high jumps.
History[]
Sonic Advance[]
In Sonic Advance, Dr. Eggman used the Egg Press to try and destroy Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy in Secret Base Zone. However, the Egg Press was destroyed by the heroes, thus forcing Eggman to eject from the vehicle in his Egg Mobile and flee.
Battle[]
The Egg Press is the boss of Secret Base Zone in Sonic Advance, and the second boss overall. It is battled with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles or Amy at the end of Secret Base Zone Act 2.
Boss guide[]
The battle takes place on a flat arena. Dr. Eggman will appear bouncing with his spring, trying to follow the player. As he does not attack directly, he is vulnerable to attacks. The player has to hit the vehicle eight times with a Spin Jump (or a Hammer Attack if playing as Amy Rose) to destroy it. After a few hits, Eggman will bounce high enough to move off-screen in an attempt to land at the player. He will also create a shockwave when he lands from this very high bounce, which will damage the playable character if they are on the ground. After sustaining a number of more hits, the Egg Press will speed up its movements, making it more difficult to battle. To defeat the Egg Press, a total of eight hits on Normal mode, or six on Easy mode, must be landed on it.
Trivia[]
- This boss is very similar to the Bouncy Boss Robot, the Master Robot of Sleeping Egg Zone in Sonic Chaos.
