The Egg Monster is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a four-wheeled transport that serves as the personal vehicle of Axel the Water Buffalo.
Description[]
The Egg Monster resembles a modified Egg Mobile with four large tires attached to the main body by metal beams with shock absorbers. The main body of the Egg Monster features a circular shape, is colored silver with a purple stripe, and features two yellow and black hazard stripe decals on its left and right sides, along with a small windshield and yellow headlight. The second version of the Egg Monster featured some minor differences from the original version, such as the removal of a gold horn ornament present on the body of the original, and its underside being colored purple instead of black.[1][2]
History[]
Countdown to Chaos[]
Axel the Water Buffalo piloted the Egg Monster during a mission in Efrika with several members of his Efrika Egg Army. However, he encountered Dr. Eggman, Orbot, and Cubot, who had been stranded following the effects of the Super Genesis Wave. After a brief introduction, Eggman commandeered the Egg Monster and used it as a transport to the Efrika Egg Army Base, with Axel riding in a makeshift sidecar created out of the broken Egg Mobile, much to his annoyance.[1]
Eggman's Dozen[]
The Egg Monster was later loaded into a Blowfish Transporter and deployed as part of Eggman's force to retake Eggman Land from the Naugus twins, being once again piloted by Axel. However, in order to save Eggman from falling into a pit of lava, Axel enabled auto-pilot on the Egg Monster, and set it to distract a nearby Dark Gaia Titan while he rescued the doctor with his chains. Unfortunately, despite the Egg Monster halting the Dark Gaia Titan for longer than Axel expected it would, it was soon torn apart by by it, forcing Axel to ride with Eggman in his Egg Driller.[3][4]
Panic in the Sky[]
Axel was later seen driving a rebuilt Egg Monster while gesturing to several of his soldiers to exit Mazuri's Gaia Temple, as it was being summoned to the Gaia Gate by Eggman.[2]
Trivia[]
- The Egg Monster is based off the vehicle of the same name from the Sonic the Hedgehog series, specifically its Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing design.
