After firing two Sonic-seeking missiles into the air, these drones are all out of ammo, left to tackle our hero with their fists.

Description, Sonic Unleashed[1]

Template:Character The Egg Launcher (V) is an enemy that first appeared in Sonic Unleashed and later in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. They are a model of Badniks created by Dr. Eggman which can fire up to two large homing missiles into the air and down on their opponents.

Description

Appearance

The Egg Launchers are humanoid robots with a torso in the shape of a prolate spheroid lying down and have a small and flat head with a single eye on top of it. On each side of their body, they have a rolling join with a bar attached, which bends perpendicularly near the attachment to the body. On the bottom of their torso they have a vertical bar connected to it with a pair of legs with flat feet attached to the sides. On their backs they have an almost "H" shaped metal bar attached, where they have two large and bulky homing missile loaded on it. They are all colored vermilion and peach-orange, and have cyan eyes.

==Powers and abilities==

The Egg Launchers are able to fire up to two large and destructive missiles with homing features from their backs which will follow their target until they either hit or the target get out of their range (rendering them useless). However, they cannot reload their missiles.

Game Appearances

Sonic Unleashed

The Egg Launchers made their first appearance in both the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version and PlayStation 2/Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed. They can only be encountered in the daytime Action Stages/Stages of the game.

In gameplay, the Egg Launchers attack the player by shooting their missiles into the air and down at Sonic. Once launched, their missiles will lock onto Sonic (which is signified by a red reticle appearing over Sonic on the PS3/Xbox 360 version) and start tracking him over limited distances, even after the Egg Launcher who fired them is destroyed, until they either hit him or he gets out of range. After the Egg Launchers have fired their two missiles, they cannot launch any more, leaving them to stand still in their location. However, they can still attack the player up close by spinning in their place.

Sonic Generations

The Egg Launchers reappeared in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. In this game, they can only be encountered in Rooftop Run. In gameplay, their attack patterns and the mechanics behind them are the same as they were in Sonic Unleashed. In some cases, the Egg Launchers will appear in the Stage's background, out the player's reach, from where they will fire their missiles. When discovering Sonic, they will spin in their place before shooting their missile shortly after.

Trivia

◾The "V" standing inside the brackets in "Egg Launcher (V)" stand for "vertical", which is a reference to how they fire their missiles vertically.

  • The torso of the Egg Launcher resembles a missile, the very same weapon used by the Egg Launcher to attack the player.
