Template:Character
The Egg Launcher (V) is an enemy that appears in Sonic Unleashed and the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. It is a model of Eggman's robots which can fire up to two large homing missiles into the air and down on their opponents.
Game Appearances
Sonic Unleashed
The Egg Launcher (V)s made their first appearance in both the PlayStation 3/Xbox 360 version and PlayStation 2/Nintendo Wii version of Sonic Unleashed. They can only be encountered in the daytime Action Stages/Stages of the game.
In gameplay, the Egg Launcher (V)s attack the player by shooting their missiles into the air and down at Sonic. Once launched, their missiles will lock onto Sonic (which is signified by a green targeting appearing over Sonic on the PS3/Xbox 360 version) and start tracking him over limited distances, even after the Egg Launcher (V) who fired them is destroyed, until they either hit him or he gets out of range. After the Egg Launcher (V)s have fired their two missiles, they cannot launch anymore, leaving them to stand still in their location. However, they can still attack the player up close by spinning in their place.
Sonic Generations
The Egg Launcher (V)s reappeared in the console/PC version of Sonic Generations. In this game, they can only be encountered in Rooftop Run. In gameplay, their attack patterns and the mechanics behind them are the same as they were in Sonic Unleashed. In some cases, the Egg Launcher (V)s will appear in the Stage's background, out the player's reach, from where they will fire their missiles.
Description
Physical Appearance
The Egg Launchers are humanoid robots with a torso in the shape of a prolate spheroid lying down and have a small and flat head with a single eye on top of it. On the sides of their body, they each have rolling joins with a bar attached, which bends perpendicular near the attachment to the body. On the bottom of their torso they have a vertical bar connected to it with a pair of legs with flat feet attached to the sides. On their backs they have an almost "H" shaped metal bar attached, where they have two large and bulky homing missile loaded on it. They are all colored vermilion, peach-orange, and have cyan eyes.
Powers and Abilities
The Egg Launchers are able to fire up to two large and destructive homing missiles from their backs which will home onto their target until they either hit their target or the target get out of their range (rendering them useless). However, they cannot reload the missiles they have launched on their own.
Trivia
- The "V" standing inside the brackets in the Egg Launcher (V)'s name stand for "vertical", which is a reference to how they fire their missiles vertically.
- The torso of the Egg Launcher (V) resembles a missile, the very same weapon used by the Egg Launcher (V) to attack the player.
