History[]
Past[]
At the beginning of the War to Take Back the Planet, an Egg Hammer was among the group of Badniks that began attacking the theater Mimic was trying to audition at, with many other Egg Hammers causing calamity throughout the world alongside their fellow Badniks. At one point, Mimic would manage to defeat an Egg Hammer while disguised as an Egg Pawn. Several other Egg Hammers were also stationed at an Eggman Empire-owned outpost, which Mimic and the first generation of the Diamond Cutters raided during one of their missions. After an Egg Walker sniffed out Mimic's Egg Pawn disguise, an Egg Hammer attempted to finish him off for good before being destroyed by the Diamond Cutters. Many more Egg Hammers were targeted and destroyed by the Diamond Cutters while they were raiding the base, with the remaining Egg Hammers being deactivated after Mimic destroyed the main control hub of the outpost. Despite this, another group of Badniks, which consisted of an Egg Hammer and numerous Egg Pawns, were sent to the entrance of the base in order to deal with the intruders. However, Mimic would disguise as Dr. Eggman himself in order to successfully trick the Badniks into leaving by telling them that they were at the wrong outpost.[1]
After Sonic the Hedgehog thwarted Dr. Eggman in their last encounter, the Doctor disappeared while his Egg Hammers and the rest of his Badnik army remained. Without a leader however, the Egg Hammers were directionless and no longer a unified threat.[2] Even so, they would still randomly attack anyone they came across[3] (although such incidents were more accidental than aggression-based).[2]
Fallout![]
Eventually, the Egg Hammers came under the control of Neo Metal Sonic, who made them and their fellow Badniks more cohesive.[2][4]
Soon after, the Egg Hammers and some other Badniks launched an attack on a small town called Vista View. When Sonic arrived to stop the attack, he encountered an Egg Hammer that lured him into an ambush where he faced three more Egg Hammers. Tails winded up saving Sonic from them though, and the two teamed up and took down three of the Egg Hammers. Now on the losing end of the battle, the last Egg Hammer tried escaping the town with the remainder of its Badnik troop. However, it was quickly defeated by Sonic while Tails took care of the remaining Badniks.[2]
Tangle & Whisper[]
An Egg Hammer with Mimic disguised as Tangle, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tangle & Whisper #2.
In an abandoned Eggman Empire facility, Mimic employed the use of an Egg Hammer that wielded a wrecking ball. It went on to attack Whisper the Wolf. Whisper used her Variable Wispon's Spikes Mode to cut the chain of the Egg Hammer's wrecking ball. She then switched to the Wispon's Rocket Mode and shot at the Egg Hammer's torso, which destroyed it.[5] Another Egg Hammer was provided to Mimic by Dr. Eggman (who had recently regained his memories) so that he could attack Tangle the Lemur and Whisper at the former Diamond Cutters' base. It was transported to the base by a Blowfish Transporter but they were knocked into the Clove Sea after Whisper destroyed the docks.[6]
Bad Guys[]
An Egg Hammer was stationed at one of Eggman's bases. It eventually fought Rough and Tumble and was partially injured in battle by a Cannon Flapper. The Egg Hammer was soon after destroyed.[7]
Imposter Syndrome[]
A singular Egg Hammer model and a horde of other assorted Badniks would be used by Dr. Starline to test Surge the Tenrec during one of her tests at Starline Base Sigma.[8] Some time after, an Egg Hammer stationed in Eggperial City attempted to stop Dr. Starline, Surge, and Kit when they invaded the city, only to be destroyed by the trio's teamwork. When Starline then took over the Eggman Empire, he sent out an override code that brought Badniks all over the world under his control, including the Egg Hammers. The Egg Hammers would then make their way towards Eggperial City upon Starline's command, eventually arriving in said city in droves.[9]

Trivia[]
- In Sonic the Hedgehog Annual 2024, Whisper would call an Egg Hammer a Death Egg Guard,[1] despite the fact it has no affiliation with the Death Egg Robot Super Badniks.
- Due to the fact that no Death Egg Robots appear within the issue, it could be likely that this dialogue was meant to refer to the Death Egg Robot Badniks before they were replaced with Egg Hammers in the final story.
