A humanoid robot designed and built by the genius scientist Eggman. This basic model has the most versatile set of features, and was made in the greatest quantity. Its AI is set to seek and destroy any blue hedgehogs in the area. Its rotund build seems reminiscent of someone...
The Egg Fighters were designed and built by Dr. Eggman, and were made in the greatest quantity of all his models at that time. They possess features that make them very versatile and come in several variations
The Egg Fighters were designed in the image of Dr. Eggman. They have a torso in the shape of a hemisphere, with four flashlights arranged in a rectangle on their front and a flat cap-shaped head on top of it. They have relatively short legs, with flat feet and circular ankles, and four-fingered arms that extend almost down to the ground. They are colored steel blue and silver, and have purple eyes. However, variations of the units also come in the colors red, orange and silver.
Game appearances[]
Sonic Unleashed[]
The Egg Fighters made their first appearance in both the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version and Wii/PlayStation 2 version of Sonic Unleashed. They are by far the most common enemy in the game, and can be found in virtually every daytime Action Stage/Stage, as well as several of the nighttime Action Stages on the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version.
In gameplay, the Egg Fighters will attack the player with punches. They are often accompanied by some of the more powerful Badniks, such as other variants of the Egg Fighters, the Aero-Chasers and the Interceptor.
Sonic Generations[]
In the console/PC version of Sonic Generations, Egg Fighters from somewhere across spacetime appear as enemies in both Acts of Rooftop Run and the Challenge Acts tied to them. In gameplay, they display the same attack patterns they had in Sonic Unleashed. Also, whenever they see Sonic, the Egg Fighters strike a pose.
In Rooftop Run Act 1, the Egg Fighters can trigger traps for Classic Sonic that cause giant barrels to roll over him. These traps can be prevented by destroying the Egg Fighters before they can trigger them. Additionally, in the game's hidden Statue Room, the player can unlock a statue of the Egg Fighter.
Personality[]
While not known to possess any defined personality, the Egg Fighters tend to display quirky behavior, such as striking dramatic poses. Their AI is set to seek out and destroy any blue hedgehog in the area, which usually makes them extremely hostile in the presence of Sonic the Hedgehog, and they enjoy making fun of him if they hit him. Certain Egg Fighter units, such as EF-MD1991, EF-DC1998 and EF-XB2006, however, have demonstrated distinct personalities of their own.
Powers and abilities[]
The Egg Fighters possess above average physical strength, enough to move barrels at least three times their own size and easily carry large steel shields. Certain Egg Fighter units, however, are known to have strength well above the standard units. They also have a degree of hand-to-hand combat skills, being able to engage in it to some effect.
The Egg Fighters have the most versatile set of features of their models, and are able to utilize different kinds of weaponry, such as swords and shields, with different effects. The stronger the Egg Fighter is, the better equipped it is to handle stronger weaponry.
The Egg Fighters' hands are programmed with an autonomous AI and possess a separate operating system, allowing them to function on their own even after the Egg Fighters' main body is destroyed, meaning their hands can detach themselves and become Little Fighters, to continue fighting when their main body has disabled.
The Egg Fighter: Sword is an Egg Fighter wielding a chainsaw-like sword, which they use to slash their foes. They have appeared in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed and the console/PC version of Sonic Generations.
The Egg Fighter: Shield is an Egg Fighter wielding a shield made of strong and conductive alloys, which they can use to both protect themselves and electrify their opponents. They have only appeared in Sonic Unleashed.
The Egg Fighter: Shield is an Egg Fighter wielding a shield loaded with a Spring, allowing them to bounce back frontal assaults. They have only appeared in Sonic Unleashed.
The Egg Fighter: Knight is an elite Egg Fighter wielding a chainsaw-like sword and a standard shield made of steel to protect themselves. They have only appeared in Sonic Unleashed.

Unnamed variant[]
During the introductory cutscene of Sonic Unleashed, Sonic is briefly seen fighting a larger Egg Fighter which sports a different design from any other variants. Notably, compared to the basic model this has a taller cylindrical head as opposed to a flat one, six small lights on its front as opposed to four large ones, and noticeable shoulder armor. This variant does not appear anywhere else in-game, and is not acknowledged in any manuals, concept artwork, or supplementary material.
In the daytime version of Windmill Isle Act 1 in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version (and the DLC version of that Act) the Egg Fighters have a reddish-orange color scheme, unlike their usual steel color. There's no difference between the variants.
According to EF-MD1991's profile in the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of Sonic Unleashed, the Egg Fighters have been around for years prior to the events of Sonic Unleashed.
The most noticeable Egg Fighter NPCs in Eggmanland were named after Sega consoles during Sega's console era, expect for EF-XB2006, who was named after the Xbox 360 made by Microsoft after Sega became a third party video game developing company in 2001.
