The Egg Dragoon is the fourth and final nighttime boss in Sonic Unleashed, and the game's overall seventh and penultimate boss. It is fought with Sonic the Werehog directly after clearing Eggmanland Act V: Dark Gaia Cauldron.
The boss battle takes place across three platforms which Sonic cannot fall off of. When the Egg Dragoon's health has been depleted by a third, the player automatically moves onto the next platform.
Boss guide[]
When the battle begins, simply take every chance to attack. The player must hit the glowing blue spot on the Egg Dragoon's belly to hurt it. When it is using its cannon, dash around on the edge of the platform and when it is close enough, get every hit in possible. Occasionally, the Egg Dragoon will stop up and charge up its drill, creating an orange circle where it will damage and stun Sonic with a sweep of its drill if he touches it. While charging up this attack, damage dealt to the Egg Dragoon's weak spot is very low due to it being invincible during the sweep with the drill, marked with Eggman either laughing in amusement or taunting with "Not good enough, Sonic."
When the Egg Dragoon is down to 2/3 health, it splits the platform Sonic is on. Get the Rings while falling, as those are the only ones there that can restore health. Once on the next platform, repeat the previous process. This time around however, the Egg Dragoon starts using ice blasts. When it is down to 1/3 health, the Egg Dragoon will break the platform again, leaving Sonic to fall down to the next one. Once on the third platform, the Egg Dragoon will start using an electrical attack that can stun Sonic unless he Double Jumps over it. Otherwise, keep repeating the aforementioned process to defeat the Egg Dragoon.
The time needed to "S" Rank is 7:00. Failure to make that time will yield a "C" Rank. Therefore, no Sun Medal will be awarded.
The Egg Dragoon is the fourth and final nighttime boss in Sonic Unleashed, and the game's overall ninth and penultimate boss. It is fought with Sonic the Werehog directly after clearing Eggmanland's only Act.

Boss guide[]
When the battle begins, the player has to first run around to avoid gunfire. Stand to the north of the platform and attack the green spot on the Egg Dragoon's belly with combos. It is important to stay near that green spot. If it tries to do an electrical slash attack, the player can stand near the green spot or go to the other side to avoid it. When Egg Fighters are summoned, either ignore them or eliminate them quickly, and keep attacking the green spot.
Once the player has pushed the Egg Dragoon's health past the first line on its health meter, the following Real-Time Interaction is initiated: /, /, /, /, / and / ten times. Failing the Real-Time Interaction will result in the chance of attacking the Egg Dragoon being lost. Upon completing the Real-Time Interaction, Eggman will break the platform with the Drill Attack and send Sonic falling. Move around to avoid gunfire, pick up Rings and to land on the next platform.
Once the player lands on the next platform, repeat the aforementioned process. This time around however, the Egg Dragoon will start firing ice blasts which can freeze Sonic. Keep attacking it until it breaks the platform again and sends Sonic falling down on the next platform. Repeat the aforementioned process again and another Real-Time Interaction will initiate: /, /, /, Random, Random, / sixteen times and /. Completing this Real-Time Interaction will finish the battle.
If the player takes too long to defeat the Egg Dragoon, it will destroy the platform causing Sonic to fall into the next platform below which may be smaller than the platform which Sonic fell off of. However, should the player fail to defeat the Egg Dragoon in time again, it will destroy the platform which causes the player to fall and lose a life.
If the player fails to defeat Eggman at the final Real-Time Interaction where he is thrown at the end of the fight, the Egg Dragoon will regain health back, but when the Real-Time Interaction is performed again, the Egg Mobile is still heavily damaged, and the cockpit's glass is broken.
When the Egg Dragoon is preparing to sweep the platform with the electrified drill, the word "danger" appears at the edges of the area to be swept.
The Egg Dragoon can be stun-locked during the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 version of the boss fight by punching it as soon as it comes to a stop after slightly rotating around the arena, with the player repeating the process. This is somewhat harder to do in the Wii/PlayStation 2version, as the Egg Dragoon moves away too fast.
The sequence of Sonic as the Werehog ripping the Egg Dragoon's cockpit with Eggman in it and then sending him flying into the horizon is why the hedgehog himself remembers that mech. In retrospect, however, he feels like he might have "overdone it a bit".[1]
If the player manages to get the Egg Dragoon's health below the Real-Time Interaction threshold, the player won't have to do the final button prompt. This can best be done by charging Sonic's punch attack.
