Description
Appearance
The Egg Dragoon is an imposing red mecha with design similarities to that of a dragon. Highly detailed, it has a bulky humanoid torso with spiked shoulder guards, several highlights on the front, a smaller platform-like torso inside the main torso for the Egg Mobile to be inserted into as a cockpit, prongs on its lower chest, thin arms and exhaust pipes on the back. It also has two wing units, which consist of red frames with blue energy protrusions emitting between them, that hover behind its back. On its left arm it has a long and gigantic drill, and on the right arm it has a six-barreled cannon. Its shoulder joints also have a spike protruding from each of them. Also, on the bottom of its upper torso dangles a lower-belly with two smaller core-based cockpits (the lowest of which has spikes on the sides), two talon-like feet cannons, and a tail.
History
Shattered World Crisis
Act Two
During the Shattered World Crisis, as Sonic the Hedgehog arrived at the Gaia Colossus seeking Chip and the stolen Chaos Emeralds, he ran into Eggman, who was equipped with his Egg Dragoon battle mech.[1] The two arch-enemies engaged in battle with the Egg Dragoon firing a barrage of projectiles at the hedgehog, though Sonic easily avoided them while taunting the doctor. In response, Eggman drove the Egg Dragoon into the Gaia Colossus hoping to crush Sonic, but failed. As Sonic tried to think of a way to damage the Egg Dragoon's armor, Eggman froze him solid with an ice blast. The Egg Dragoon then moved in for the kill, only for night to fall, causing Sonic to transforms into Sonic the Werehog. Using his enchanted strength, Sonic easily gained the upper-hand and caused the Egg Dragoon to accidentally impale itself with its own drill. Sonic then ended the battle by ripping Eggman and his Egg Mobile out of the Egg Dragoon and tossing them into the sky.[2]
Trivia
- In comparison to the model released in Sonic Unleashed that the Shattered World Crisis saga's own is based on, the Egg Dragoon here resembles the second version that appeared in Sonic Generations more than in Sonic Unleashed.
