The Eclipse Cannon[1] is an object that is mentioned in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a cannon created by Professor Gerald Robotnik and stationed onboard the Space Colony ARK.
History[]
Past[]
50 years ago, the Eclipse Cannon was built by Gerald Robotnik to destroy the Black Comet when the Black Arms make their return. However, after his granddaughter Maria was killed, the Eclipse Cannon was amongst the weapons that were modified by Gerald to destroy Sonic's World.[2][3]
Decades later, the Eclipse Cannon was introduced to Dr. Eggman by Shadow, who got him to collect the Chaos Emeralds for the cannon. After collecting six Chaos Emeralds, Eggman displayed the Eclipse Cannon by blowing up half of the moon with it. However, after Eggman placed the final Chaos Emerald into the ARK, Gerald's doomsday program was activated, which would make the ARK collide with Sonic's World and destroy it, forcing the doctor to team up with Sonic and his allies to stop this threat.[2] A while later, Shadow used the Eclipse Cannon to destroy the Black Comet, fulfilling its purpose.[3][1]
Trivia[]
- The Eclipse Cannon is based on the object of the same name from the Sonic the Hedgehog series.
