The Echidna Robot is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog serialized manga published by Shogakukan. It is a giant, echidna-based robot created by Dr. Eggman to defeat Sonic.
Appearance[]
Resembling an echidna, the Echidna Robot is a huge robot with a round body and fours legs. It also has several large metal spikes on its back and a long snout on its face, as well as a glass window on its forehead, allowing its pilot to see though it from its cockpit.

Dr. Eggman created the Echidna Robot to defeat Sonic, figuring that an echidna would be the perfect thing to fight a hedgehog. Piloted by Eggman, the Echidna Robot ambushed Sonic while he was singing and playing guitar in the Hedgehog Town band competition. At first, the robot had the upper hand, with Sonic’s Rolling Attack proving useless against its durable body. However, after waiting for the robot to attack him again, Sonic dodged its attack, grabbed a microphone, and used the cord to tie up the Echidna Robot. Sonic then swung the Echidna Robot around at super-speed and threw it on a pair of firework cannons, which then fired their fireworks (and the Echidna Robot) into the sky, where they and the robot exploded, with Eggman still inside.[1]
Powers and abilities[]
The Echidna Robot can do a move called the Rolling Echidna Attack, similar to the Rolling Attack, where it leaps through the air and bashes its target with its body. The Echidna Robot is also made of a special alloy which is so durable that Sonic’s Rolling Attack has no effect on it. Like a real echidna, the Echidna Robot is also a good digger, and can dig through the ground to dodge attacks and ambush its enemies.
