The Dynamo Cage is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an object created by Dr. Eggman for unknown utilities. It was later modified by Surge so that she could gain more power.[1]

Powers and abilities[]
While the original use of the object is unknown, Surge modified it to allow the user to absorb energy from any object, such as Chaos Drives,[2] and any magical creature, such as energy from Wisps.[3]
When the object absorbs a Wisp, the user will gain Color Power-like abilities from the small creatures; Blue Wisp allows the user to generate a barrier of cubes around themselves and making cube platforms with Blue Cube, Pink Wisp allows the user to conjure energy buzz saws to their hands with Pink Spikes, Green Wisp allows the user to float with Green Hover, Orange Wisp allows the user to blast at high speeds with Orange Rocket, and Cyan Wisp allows the user to fire laser beams from their eyes with Cyan Laser.

It was originally a prototype built by Dr. Eggman, with its utilities being unknown.[1]
Overpowered[]
When Surge was investigating in Eggman's stuffs, she had found the object lying around. She then modified the item for her use.[1] When Eggman went back to see Cubot and Orbot on what they are doing, he then saw an overpowered Surge, angrily smiling at him.[1] He then ordered his robots to shoot at her, only for her to use the Dynamo Cage to absorb the beam bullets. Even after using it shortly, Surge could tell the device was making her more powerful. She decided to go to Central City to test it out. Surge was then confronted by Whisper, who attacked her with her Variable Wispon. After running out of power, Surge let herself get hit by the Variable Wispon to absorb its Wisp energy. She then got in a struggle with Whisper and discovered she could absorb Wisps into the Dynamo Cage. Surge was able to absorb the Pink, Green, Orange, and Blue Wisps before Sonic and Tails arrived.[3] Surge used the Blue Wisp Cube power to deflect Sonic's Cyan Laser attack and then was able to absorb the Cyan Wisp. She immediately attacked Sonic with the Cyan Laser power, but walked right into a trap created by Tails. The foxed hooked the Dynamo Cage too all the appliances in the store, causing the device to start draining power. Surge let out one last energy burst before she was drained of power, destroying the hardware store they were in.[4]
After Kit took Surge back to Starline Base Sigma, Kit redirected all the power in the base into the Dynamo Cage. Surge would fight Eggman once he arrived in the base with Metal Sonic, Sonic, and Tails. Surge used the Pink Spikes and Cyan Laser abilities of the Dynamo Cage to defeat Eggman in his Eggwalker. She then took the Chaos Drive in the Eggwalker and absorbed it.[2] Soon, Surge got in a fight against Sonic and Metal Sonic. The Dynamo Cage was able to absorb the power used by Metal's Black Shield, which Surge got stuck in. Throughout the fight, Surge used multiple Wisps powers, some at the same time. Eggman would note during the battle the Dynamo Cage would overload at any moment. Sure enough, after pinning down Sonic, the device broke with its glass capsules shattering, releasing the Wisps and causing Surge to pass out. Eggman ordered Metal to take Surge and the Cage, but Kit stopped the robot. Kit was able to take Surge and the Dynamo Cage out of the base to parts unknown.[5]
Trivia[]
- The way how Surge uses the Dynamo Cage to absorb Wisps is similar to how Metal Sonic absorbed them in Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps.
