Dung Beetle[1] is an enemy that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a mass-produced, dung beetle-based Badnik model created by Dr. Eggman.

Appearance[]

Based on the beetle species of the same name, the Dung Beetles have dark blue armor with a round head and body, and four red and grey-colored legs, each with a suction cap for a foot. The Dung Beetles also have cyan eyes, a pair of fangs in their mouth, and thick, red antennas on their head.

In the Wii U version and PC version of Sonic Lost World, the Dung Beetles appear as enemies. In gameplay, they are only encountered in Frozen Factory Zone 4. In the 2.5D sections, they will push differently-sized ice blocks from stacks behind their rear in either the left or right direction. Many of the ice blocks they use have frozen Super Rings or 1-Ups inside them. If the player gets in front of them by breaking their ice block towers or land behind them, the Dung Beetles will try to charge towards the playable character.

The player can easily defeat a Dung Beetle using a Focused Homing Attack. However, the player can also use Spin Dash to blast through the Dung Beetles' ice blocks and the Dung Beetles themselves. Also, upon destroying a Dung Beetle, an Animal will be released.
