The Dummy Ring[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. They are items that look like regular Rings but are used to combat enemies instead of protecting the user.

Description[]

In terms of appearance, the Dummy Rings look identical to the well-known Rings. However, they cannot be collected by the player when touching them. Also, when the Dummy Rings are touched by enemies, they cause explosive damage to them.

Game appearances[]

Sonic Heroes[]

The Dummy Rings first appeared in Sonic Heroes, where they are used by Tails and Rouge as a part of their Dummy Ring Bomb attack. In this game, when the Dummy Rings are deployed, they remain stationary indefinitely in the spot where they are and cannot be interacted by the player. Also, in addition to causing damage to enemies, the Dummy Rings can also paralyze them when touched.

Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)[]

In Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), the Dummy Rings appear again as a part of Tails' Dummy Ring Bomb, Dummy Ring Snipe and Dummy Ring Blitz techniques. In this game, the Dummy Rings can be interacted by the playable character; however, instead of being absorbed when Tails touches them, they will spread across the area. Also, a couple of seconds after being deployed, the Dummy Rings will disappear.

Trivia[]

  • In Sonic Heroes, the Dummy Rings stay upright after they are thrown and make bouncing-like sounds effects, they also spark electrically after being thrown. But in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006), they fall over without sound effects or sparking.
