The Drumbeat is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Drumbeat's icon takes form of purple drum, purple notes on it, and purple blasting behind. In gameplay, it will become drums leaving purple whirlwind and musical notes.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Drumbeat can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Drummer Cream . As with most other Items, Metal Sonic and Metal Sonic Mach 3.0 can also use the Drumbeat if they use the Steal Item, or Fortune Teller Amy when she uses Lucky Draw or Wall of Cards to steal it from the aforementioned user.
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Drumbeat by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Drumbeat will drop drums, which blow out tornado, some distance ahead of the user's current location on all the lanes that the user is not currently on. If a character, including the user themselves, touches one of these drums, they will take damage, send the player up to the air and stop for a moment. To avoid the Drumbeat, the playable character must either jump over its drums or run in-between them.
The Drumbeat can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 4, 10 and 16 respectively. For each upgrade, the player will increase the damage dealt with the Drumbeat.
