The Drill Spin Boost is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series
Description [ ] The Drill Spin Boost's icon takes form of Karate Knuckles ' fist leaving the flame trail with orange swirl in its wake.
Overview [ ] In gameplay, the Drill Spin Boost can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Karate Knuckles .
Once obtained, the player can utilize the Drill Spin Boost by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Drill Spin Boost will increase the speed of the user for a short amount of time. The duration of the Drill Spin Boost is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Drill Spin Boost is in effect. However, the Drill Spin Boost will end prematurely if the user collides with an obstacle while using the Drill Spin Boost. In addition, any rival character who makes contact with the user while the Drill Spin Boost is in effect will take damage, send the player up to the air and stop for a moment.
The Drill Spin Boost can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 2, 8 and 14 respectively. For each upgrade, the Drill Spin Boost will last longer.
