The Drill Spin Attack (ドリルスピンアタック, Doriru Supin Atakku^?) is a move that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an attack used by Knuckles the Echidna.

Description

When using the Drill Spin Attack, Knuckles dashes into a fiery drill spin state and fly towards the enemy, dealing damage to them.

Overview

In Sonic Frontiers, the Drill Spin Attack is one of Knuckles' Skills in The Final Horizon. The player must hold //, then release it in order to use it. It can be unlocked by using 30 Skill Points as him. When holding the button, Knuckles will have red aura surrounding him. When fully charged, additional fiery aura will circle around him.

Additional target cursors will be added, surrounding the original one, when being charged. When four of them are added, the whole cursor itself will become red, signifying the attack is fully charged. Depending on how long the button is pressed, the attack will last longer, as well as the combo gauge:

• Attack charged at one-quarter: 6-hit combo
• Attack half charged: 9-hit combo
• Attack charged at three-quarter: 12-hit combo
• Attack fully charged: 19-hit combo

Trivia

• If the player performs a Boost or gets hit by an enemy’s hitbox as they hit a target via the attack, Knuckles' hitbox will temporarily cause damage at anything that comes in contact of him. Additionally, it increases the player's combo count. If the player fully charges the attack, for example without attacking at all, they can potentially land a 101-hit combo while simply sticking towards an enemy. At this temporary glitched state, they can also perform other offense moves.
• This move is similar to Knuckles' Screwdriver ability from Sonic the Hedgehog (2006).
