Not to be confused with the move Drift.

Drifting[1] is a recurring game mechanic in the Sonic Storybook series. It is an effect that occurs when making sharp high-speed turns.

The drift is an effect that is activated on its own when the player is running at high speeds and arrives at a sharp turning point. At that moment, the character will skid to slow down and make a sharp turn forward. However, if the player moves through a drift-able area at low speed, they will just walk through it normally. Depending on the game, this effect can be beneficial to the player.
