The Dragon Flight is an Item Box power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Boost Item used primarily to increase the user's speed.

Description[]

The Dragon Flight's icon takes the form of an orange and yellow flame that flies forward. In gameplay, this power-up becomes a fiery orange aura that surrounds the user while they fly down the track.

Overview[]

In gameplay, the Dragon Flight can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Dragonfire Sonic.

Once obtained, the player can utilize the Dragon Flight by pressing its icon on the bottom of the HUD. When used, the Dragon Flight will increase the speed of the user for a short amount of time. The duration of the Dragon Flight is shown by the decreasing gauge on top of this power-up's icon on the bottom of the HUD whenever the Dragon Flight is in effect. However, the Dragon Flight will end prematurely if the user collides with an obstacle while using the Dragon Flight. Like the Chaos Charge, the Dragon Flight allows the player to 'fly' in the air for the duration of the boost. In addition, the Dragon Flight will cause damage to rivals that lose Rings and slow down momentarily when it contacts them.

The Dragon Flight can also be upgraded by leveling the user up to level 2, 8 and 14 respectively. For each upgrade, the Dragon Flight will last longer.
