This article pertains to the beta elements from Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine.
Unused graphics[]
Most of these are leftovers from Puyo Puyo.

Numbers intended to mark the difficulty levels of the game. | |
Unused tileset. | |
A shadowed block that was part of the background in the Endless Mode of Puyo Puyo. A similar set of tiles are still used as the background of various screens instead of this one. | |
The flashing square is only used in the first Lesson Stage. | |
The tutorial text shown in the first Lesson Stage in Puyo Puyo. Since this is only present in the Endless Mode tileset (which is never loaded during gameplay), the actual object appears scrambled when the stage is accessed in the game. | |
Unused Arle sprites. | |
Unused Harpy sprites. | |
A graphic card saying "Final Boss", along with what seems to be a number font for debugging purposes. It was replaced with "Stage 13". Interestingly, though this text was used in Puyo Puyo, the palette was swapped from green to white. | |
Leftovers from the Game Over screen of Puyo Puyo. | |
Leftovers from Game Over screens from the 1P VS 2P Mode of Puyo Puyo. | |
Graphics from the High Score screen used in Puyo Puyo. | |
Graphics intended for the High Score screen in the game | |
Unused sprites intended to mark the different game modes. |
Unused lesson stages[]
Lesson Stages of Puyo Puyo are still present and can be accessed via patch code "00BEFE:00??". The game will then load glitched out material, such as a scrambled tutorial text, no music playing, Coconuts standing at odd positions in the stage intros, and Scratch taking place of Skeleton-T as the challenger. The flashing squares show which beans can be cleared with the current piece still remaining. Beating the third Lesson Stage advances the player to the ending scene.
Unused music[]
Most of these are leftovers from the Genesis version of Puyo Puyo.
Clip | ID Number | Description |
---|---|---|
01 | A rendition of Kraftwerk's "Home Computer". In earlier builds, this was used for the title screen menu. | |
0C | The original "Stage Clear" track from the Genesis version of Puyo Puyo. | |
0F | The original "Brave of Puyopuyo" track from the Genesis version of Puyo Puyo. | |
10 | The theme of original "Puyopuyo" track from the Genesis version of Puyo Puyo. | |
14 | A faster and slightly altered version of the Stage 13's Battle Theme. | |
15 | Unknown sound. |
Unused text[]
Not only the text here goes unused in this game, some of it also goes unused in Puyo Puyo. Mission Mode seemed to have been planned for that game in the Genesis version.

In the final game, there are red, blue, yellow, green, and purple Puyos. However, a cyan Puyo is found in the games files, as the graphics are overwritten by it.
