The Distraction Item[1] is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a type of capsule with power-ups contained inside them.
Description[]
Looking identical to Item Boxes, Distraction Items resemble blue glass capsules with red caps on the top and bottom of them. They also have a power-up icon on their front.
Overview[]
Distraction Items made their only appearance in the Nintendo DSversion of Sonic Colors. In gameplay, they appear exclusively in Versus mode. Similar to Item Boxes, the player can open a Distraction Item by touching it or targeting it with the Homing Attack to collect its power-up. Once its power-up is collected, its icon will appear at the top right corner of the opponent's screen. Pressing the L button will activate the power-up. Unlike regular power-ups however, these power-ups will produce an effect that is decremental to the opponent in Versus Mode.
