Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]
When Shadow the Hedgehog was unexpectedly awakened from Prison Island and made his way to Tokyo, where he effortlessly eliminated the Guardian Units of Nations forces sent after him. Recognizing the danger Shadow posed, Commander Walters ordered Director Rockwell to travel to Green Hills, to recruit Team Sonic. Rockwell arrived in a G.U.N. helicopter accompanied by her assistant, landing in the forest. There, she encountered Tom and Maddie Wachowski along with the team. Referring to them as "aliens," Rockwell offended Sonic the Hedgehog, who quickly pointed out that her assumption was correct.
Rockwell introduced herself and requested the team's immediate assistance for a situation in Tokyo, a mission they quickly accepted. They departed in a helicopter, and they use a ring portal to reach Tokyo faster. During the trip, the team followed the trail of a massive explosion to locate the source of the threat. In frustration, Rockwell listened to Sonic's joke about the low-budget flight, with no food and movies, before deploying with his friends at Shibuya Crossing.
Later, Team Sonic and Walters gathered at the Chao Garden to inquire about Shadow, just before they were attacked. After the attack, Rockwell and her platoon made their way to the restaurant, where they found Walters, severely wounded. As she searched Walters' pocket for the Eclipse Cannon keycard, Rockwell instead found a photo of Team Sonic, which led her to believe that they were responsible for the attack and had taken the keycard, further increasing her mistrust of them.
To protect the second and last Eclipse Cannon keycard, Rockwell configured the vault at G.U.N. Headquarters with variable gravity, which could be adjusted via a tablet. Later, Rockwell walked through the hallways of the headquarters, conversing with her assistant about the situation in Colorado, making it clear that no one should know about it. She then encountered Agent "Randall Handel," who greeted her with a military salute, leaving her confused.
When Sonic, Ivo, and Gerald Robotnik arrived at the vault, Rockwell confronted them, explaining the variable gravity system and seizing the keycard. She disregarded Sonic's warnings, firmly believing that Team Sonic and Team Robotnik were both after the keycard. Rockwell revealed that her platoon had captured Tom, Maddie, and Tails, and she intended to arrest everyone for the infiltration. However, Knuckles the Echidna glides toward the headquarters at high speed, using the Flames of Disaster to break through the barrier and into the vault, the impact of which knocks the gravity control device out of Rockwell's hands, and snatched her tablet to disable the gravity system, though he accidentally malfunctioned it while trying to adjust the settings.
With the keycard lying on the ground and Rockwell stuck to the floor, she crawled to reach it, competing against Eggman. After Sonic successfully deactivated the variable gravity, Rockwell managed to grab the keycard before Eggman. She then ordered her subordinates to handle the situation. While trying to keep the keycard safe, Rockwell encountered "Walters," who had managed to survive. He ordered her to hand over the keycard to keep it safe with him, which was a command that she followed. However, she was unaware that it was actually Tom disguised as Walters.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (promotional cartridge)[]
Alongside Team Sonic, Shadow, Robotnik, Gerald, Tom, Maddie, Stone, Rachel and Randall, the player can select a voice clip from Director Rockwell, her poster says "KRYSTEN RITTER IS DIRECTOR ROCKWELL" and she says, "Requesting... Team Sonic's... immediate assistance."
Personality[]
Rockwell is a strict and tough military official who takes great importance in the operations of the Guardian Units of Nations. She is notably willing to do anything to preserve the protection of Earth such as placing the vault containing the last Eclipse Cannon key to prevent anyone from stealing it for nefarious plans.
Rockwell displays xenophobic traits and has a deep distrust of alien beings, including Team Sonic. She often gives them cold stares and shows little respect, referring to them simply as "aliens" instead of using their real names. Her mistrust intensified after the attack on Commander Walters, as she assumed that Team Sonic was responsible for the incident and that they had taken the first Eclipse Cannon key from him. In reality, Commander Walters had actually given Team Sonic the key. Rockwell dismisses Sonic's attempts to warn her, ignoring his claims that it was Team Robotnik trying to get the second key. Her misguided behavior demonstrates a lack of respect for all alien creatures, even the good ones like Sonic, which ultimately forces Team Sonic to resort to their emergency plan.
Relationships[]
Commander Walters[]
Despite not interacting with Commander Walters onscreen, Director Rockwell has a good relationship with him. When Walters gets killed by the Egg Drones, Rockwell searches for the keycard, and finds out that Team Sonic has taken it. This makes her think that they are responsible for Walters' death. Later, Rockwell comes face to face with Walters (who is actually Tom in disguise). Despite not actually interacting with the real Commander Walters, Rockwell knows that he's the boss, and that she has to do what he tells him to do. This includes giving him the keycard and sending in reinforcements.
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
When Shadow attacks Tokyo, Rockwell decides to ask Sonic and his team to help her and the G.U.N. agents find a way to stop him. After Commander Walters' death, Rockwell assumes that Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles are responsible for killing him. Later, when Sonic tries to get the keycard in G.U.N Headquarters, Rockwell uses the Zero Gravity Room to make him float in the air. And when Knuckles breaks her tablet, Rockwell, the G.U.N. agents, the Wachowskis, Team Robotnik, Sonic, and Tails float in the air or get pulled towards the floor. Once the gravity is restored, Rockwell takes the keycard, and leaves the Zero Gravity Room.
Tom Wachowski[]
Rockwell's relationship with Tom is similar to her relationship with Team Sonic. First, she asks Tom and Maddie if Team Sonic can come with her to Tokyo, so that they can find a way to stop Shadow. Later, she tries to stop Tom, Maddie, Team Sonic, and Team Robotnik from taking the keycard. And when Tom disguises himself as Commander Walters, he convinces Rockwell to give him the keycard.
Dr. Ivo Robotnik[]
When Dr. Robotnik and his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik, try to steal the keycard, Rockwell uses the Zero Gravity Room to stop them. And when Knuckles breaks her tablet, the keycard lands in between Dr. Robotnik and Rockwell. But since they're stuck to the floor, they have to crawl, so that they can try to get the keycard. Once the gravity is restored, Rockwell grabs the keycard before Dr. Robotnik can grab it. When Rockwell gives the keycard to a disguised Tom, Shadow attacks him, takes the keycard, and gives it to Dr. Robotnik and Professor Gerald Robotnik.
Professor Gerald Robotnik[]
Alongside his grandson, Professor Gerald Robotnik is one of Rockwell's enemies. When he and Dr. Robotnik try to take the keycard, Rockwell uses the Zero Gravity Room to stop them. And then, Gerald watches his grandson try to get the keycard before Rockwell does. Once the gravity is restored, Rockwell grabs the keycard, which is later given to a disguised Tom. Unbeknownst to Rockwell, Shadow attacks Tom, takes the keycard, and gives it to Dr. Robotnik and Professor Gerald Robotnik.
Shadow the Hedgehog[]
When Shadow attacks Tokyo, Rockwell recruits Team Sonic to stop him. After taking the keycard, Rockwell gives it to a disguised Tom. And when Shadow attacks him, he takes the keycard from him. After that, he gives it to Dr. Robotnik and Professor Gerald Robotnik. It can be assumed that Rockwell wasn't happy when she found out that Shadow and the Robotniks took the keycard.

Trivia[]
- Rockwell shares some similarities with the Sonic X character, Topaz, who is a female Guardian Units of Nations agent allied with extraterrestrials despite her initial mistrust of them.
- Rockwell's xenophobic behavior towards Team Sonic is shared with the character, Agent Willoughby. However, her case was because she thought that they were responsible for killing Commander Walters out of a misunderstanding, and she never betrayed G.U.N., unlike Willoughby.
- Rockwell can be a counterpart to MCU's Jessica Jones. The only difference is that Jones has superpowers, and Rockwell doesn't.
