The Destroyer's history was later drastically altered when Sonic and Sally went back in time in an attempt to stop Dr. Robotnik from coming into power. Like in the original timeline, the Destroyer was completed and helped conquer the King's palace in Mobotropolis.[2] Afterward, Robotnik and Snively sent the Destroyer out to destroy the environment. After transforming Mobotropolis into Robotropolis however, the Destroyer headed towards the Great Forest, something that never happened in the original timeline.
