Desert Dodge is the third zone in SegaSonic the Hedgehog.


The main danger of this level is four tornadoes that rotate around each other, chasing the player throughout the level. The tornadoes appear from the start of the level, chasing the player down a desert path riddled with cacti, stones, mini-tornadoes, quicksand, and collapsing areas of the sandy path. After several turns, a buglike robot appears, and swerves above the player, attacking if he/she slows down for too long. The direction changes again, and the player must manoeuvre through obstacles resembling eight blue and purple spheres formed into an archlike shape.

The direction changes twice more, but now all previous elements (except the arches composed of spheres) are included in this stretch of sand, including a different type of sand that slows the player down. After this stretch, the player must navigate his/her way through an ocean of quicksand, into which the player will sink if he/she stays still too long, to the end of the level.


  • In the Revision A prototype of the game it is simply known as "Desert Zone", and appears as the fifth (and last) playable level.
  • This is the very first level in the Sonic series to incorporate the desert theme.
