Dengeki Dreamcast Logo

The Dengeki Dreamcast logo.

Dengeki Dreamcast (電撃Dreamcast Dengeki Dreamcast?) was a Japanese gaming magazine published by MediaWorks. [1] The magazine was part of the Dengeki (電撃 Dengeki?, lit. "electric shock") brand of magazines and book imprints that also includes Dengeki Nintendo.

Dengeki Dreamcast mainly covered information pertaining to Sega games and consoles. The magazine was originally named Dengeki Mega Drive when it first went on sale in January 1993. The magazine was renamed to Dengeki Sega EX in 1996 and then to Dengeki Sega Saturn in 1997. The magazine changed its name for the final time in 1998, ending with Dengeki Dreamcast as it was discontinued in 2000.

Trivia[]

  • Dengeki Sega EX, which ran for 12 monthly issues, had an illustration of Sonic from the first Sonic the Hedgehog game to the right of the logo.
  • The same Sonic illustration would be used for Dengeki Sega Saturn, which ran for 31 bi-weekly issues, though the placement varied until it settled on being in the top right corner.
  • Dengeki Dreamcast, which ran for 45 bi-weekly issues, instead featured an illustration of Sonic from Sonic Adventure in the top right corner for the first 13 issues before it was replaced with the Dreamcast logo.
