The Deer (バンビ, Banbi^?, lit. "Bambi") is a creature that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a race of mammal Animals used for raising Chao.

Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut

The Deer made its debut in Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure DX: Director's Cut. In gameplay, Deer can alter the stats, appearance and personality of a Chao. These animals are found inside Badniks. Simply destroy the Badnik to release the Deer inside, and then touch it to pick it up. When released, the Deer have a green sphere around them, which disappears shortly afterwards. They are found in the following Action Stages:

• Final Egg
• Hot Shelter
• Speed Highway
• Twinkle Park

Upon entering a Chao Garden with a Deer, it will leave the playable character and run around the garden. The Deer will sparkle if it has not given them to a Chao in the garden. Should the player give a Deer to a Chao, the Chao will embrace it, attaining its appearance and behavior and raising its stats according to the Deer's. The Deer will then lose its sparkle and disappear shortly after.

Sonic Advance

In Sonic Advance, the Deer appear as victims of Dr. Eggman, who used them as organic batteries for his Badniks. The Deer can be found in Egg Rocket Zone and Cosmic Angel Zone where they pop out of destroyed Badniks. Also, in the second Act of Casino Paradise Zone, the Deer pop out of the Act's destroyed capsule.

Sonic Advance 2

In Sonic Advance 2, the Deer appear as victims of Dr. Eggman, who used them as organic batteries for his Badniks. The Deer can be found in Techno Base where they pop out of destroyed Badniks.

Sonic Pinball Party

The Deer in Sonic Pinball Party.

In Sonic Pinball Party, the Deer play a role in the game's Story mode. In this game, the Deer were among the Animals that came to Casinopolis, only to get kidnapped by Dr. Eggman and turned into robotic slaves. To save the Deer and his other Animal friends, Sonic entered the Egg Cup Tournament. Once Sonic completes the game's Story mode, a shot of a Deer leaving Casinopolis together with Sonic's friends and the other Animals is shown.

In gameplay, a Deer can be spotted in the lower left corner of the Sonic pinball table.
