If I watch for the beam of light when he's attacking, I can probably dodge it.

Darkspine Sonic, Sonic and the Secret Rings

The Darkness Spark[1] is a move used by Alf Layla wa-Layla in Sonic and the Secret Rings. When performing this technique, Alf Layla wa-Layla throws a barrage of purple energy orbs at his opponent.

When performing the Darkness Spark, Alf Layla wa-Layla creates distance between him and his opponent before throwing a barrage of six purple energy spheres at his opponent.

The Darkness Spark is only used during Alf Layla wa-Layla's battle with Darkspine Sonic. When used, the energy balls travel in the direction of Darkspine Sonic, so the player must constantly move around to avoid them. For each ball thrown, the attack gets faster and faster.

Using Time Break makes it easier to avoid the energy balls, and using the Speed Break allows the player to dodge the attack automatically. Initially, the player can just sweep to right and left to dodge them. For the subsequent shots though, the player has to dodge them with Speed Break.
