A hefty cudgel good for 6 swings

— Description, Sonic the Hedgehog Encyclo-speed-ia[1]

The Dark Hammer[2][1] (ダークハンマー[3] Dāku Hanmā?) is an object that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a war hammer used by the Black Arms, being a close-quarters combat-type weapon usable by both enemies and the player.

Description[]

Originating from the Black Arms, the Dark Hammer is a massive hammer with a slightly crooked handle. Like most other Black Arms weaponry, it has a dark color scheme, being composed primarily of blue and purple.

Overview[]

Shadow holding a Dark Hammer, from Shadow the Hedgehog.

In gameplay of Shadow the Hedgehog, the Dark Hammer can only be found in certain stages. They can be wielded by Hammer Oaks who will use them against the player. They will also allow the Hammer Oaks to block all gunfire aimed at them with their free hand.

Dark Hammers can be dropped by defeated enemies that wield them or released from breakable Containers. Touching one will make the playable character pick it up automatically, and pressing SNNBGAMECUBEDISCO/Square/XboxX (whether on the ground or in mid-air) will cause him to attack with it. As a close-quarters combat weapon, the Dark Hammer is designed for face-to-face combat. As such, it has a short attack range, although its power makes up for this. A Dark Hammer can be swung a total of six times; once those tries are spent, it becomes useless. However, it can be reloaded with another six attacks by picking up another Dark Hammer.
