Synopsis[]

Green Hill on South Island, Sonic's Earth: The Flash and Sonic arrive to find Darkseid holding the blue Chaos Emerald while proclaiming that his plans begin with "a gem containing the ultimate power..." Sonic asks Flash if this is who they're fighting, and Flash affirms this, advising that Sonic should "consider him worse" than anything else the hedgehog has faced in the past. Sonic isn't intimidated, thumbing his nose with a smile as he states that he "[likes] a challenge." The two rush Darkseid, proclaiming their plans: Sonic will attack Darkseid while Flash makes a grab for the Chaos Emerald so they can regroup with the others. However, Sonic's repeated Spin Attacks have no effect on Darkseid, who tightens his grip on the Emerald as Flash attempts to run away with it. In return, Darkseid grabs Flash's leg and tosses him into Sonic, sending the two sprawling. Flash swears as he notices Darkseid is charging his Omega Beams and tells Sonic to run; the two speedsters make a break for it as Darkseid unleashes the beams from his eyes, one following each of them. Sonic has trouble avoiding his beam and asks Flash for ideas. Flash suggests running towards him, planning to go low while Sonic goes high. The two converge, Flash sliding while Sonic jumps up; the plan works and the Omega Beams collide with each other, but the resulting explosion sends the two flying.

Smoking, Flash and Sonic get to their feet as Darkseid leaves through a Boom Tube, Sonic muttering that Darkseid is a "jerk" for not even staying to finish them off. Flash contacts the Justice League and informs them that Darkseid has a Chaos Emerald while joking that Sonic wasn't fast enough to stop him, which the hedgehog objects to with a grin. Superman and Knuckles continue their search from the skies, Superman saying they haven't found anything; likewise for Wonder Woman, who's in a forest with Amy as she talks with Vector the Crocodile and adds that Amy is recharging her vehicle and informing others to aid in the search; Batman and Shadow are on Radical Highway, with Batman saying they're still looking; Green Lantern reports that he and Silver also haven't found anything; and Cyborg informs them that he and Tails almost have a working tracker finished, adding that the Emeralds are "hard to pin down."

Meanwhile, aboard the Ragna Rock, Darkseid returns and orders DeSaad to report new events. DeSaad apologizes, saying that they're still looking for the Emeralds. Darkseid reminds him that he's directed him to one, asking what the delay is with the others; he states that the Emeralds' nature is unruly, with them almost seeming to actively hide from Father Box's scanning. Darkseid informs him of the Justice League's arrival on Sonic's world and is certain they'll interfere, ordering DeSaad to send his elite warriors to look across the planet and burn it all down in the process as he applies the blue Emerald to Ragna Rock's Dimensional Engine to see if their efforts are worth it. Cyborg notices the launching of Apokolips forces while Tails cross-references this with their own data, the two assuming their foes have an idea of where the Emeralds are. Cyborg sends the resulting search coordinates to the other Leaguers, specifying the Emeralds closest to each. The teams approach their respective locations, with Flash explaining to Sonic that he can move within a picosecond and Sonic finding it "adorable" that he can still measure his speed.

While they have a plan, Batman asks what their contingency is, explaining that Darkseid has "mythic arcane power" already-- with more to potentially obtain-- and believes they may be unable to counter it. Superman remains optimistic that they won't fail Sonic's world, certain that they'll find the other Emeralds and get back the one Darkseid stole. However, Wonder Woman agrees with Batman planning for the worst and asks for options; Cyborg responds that should things go wrong and they need an exit, he has an emergency Boom Tube ready for a return to the Watchtower, the League's headquarters. Green Lantern doesn't believe that such a means of escape is enough for the whole planet to evacuate, but Superman believes they'll "rise to the occasion" like always and "can put [their] faith in [their] new friends", should they need help. Soon enough, the battle over the Chaos Emeralds begins; Wonder Woman and Amy battle Lashina, Green Lantern guards himself from Mantis' blasts while Silver prepares to throw a boat at their foe, Superman and Knuckles ready themselves for a rematch against Kalibak, and Batman and Shadow face off against Steppenwolf, who holds the red Chaos Emerald, on Radical Highway.

Steppenwolf boasts that he'll present their heads to Darkseid along with the Emerald. Unfazed, Batman tosses a flashbang device at him, causing a flash of bright light. Steppenwolf scoffs at Batman's "pathetic attempt to blind [him]", but Shadow snatches his Emerald from behind, then corrects him: it was a distraction. He induces Chaos Control and batters Steppenwolf with a flurry of punches, causing the villain to crumple to the ground. Batman is impressed, noting that Shadow moved faster than he could see; Shadow explains that there's no way Batman could have seen the display, since he stopped time by using Chaos Control. Batman notes this power as key to stopping Darkseid, and Shadow agrees, about to note that he is the Ultimate Life Form. However, that thought is interrupted when the ground begins to shake underneath them. Across the world, orbs of blue lightning flash as reality begins to tear apart; Darkseid has applied the blue Emerald to the Dimensional Engine, fascinated by its legendary power being true and noticing that space and time are starting to warp. With just the one Emerald he has, he notes, he could ravage this Earth; with all seven, he could do the same with entire universes.

Batman informs the League that they're now out of time and need to focus on Darkseid immediately. As Knuckles beats up Kalibak once again, Superman agrees, but says they'll need a way for everyone to board the Ragna Rock. He asks Tails if he has a solution, but Tails doesn't believe his plane fleet can handle such an approach. Sonic chimes in, however, noting that they "might have a volunteer for a rideshare." He and Flash watch from a beach as the Egg Carrier floats overhead. Dr. Eggman floats down to meet them in his Egg Mobile, assuming that Sonic is already fighting Darkseid and his forces; Flash immediately guesses that this is Sonic's nemesis, and answering affirmatively, Sonic explains that Eggman is a crazed mechanical genius who wants to conquer his world. Flash notes that he's bald and adds that Superman "has one of those back home". Eggman has no patience for Sonic's remarks and effectively states that he never wanted to ask for his help, but the massive threat leaves him no choice. He offers to get the group up to the Ragna Rock and allow them to handle Darkseid. Flash asks if they can trust him, and Sonic answers that they can "for the short term," saying that Eggman has as much to lose as everyone else. Therefore, he says to gather everyone so they can "wipe [their] feet on Darkseid's face".

Soon after, the Egg Carrier flies toward the Ragna Rock with everyone onboard, shielding its retaliatory beams and ramming into the ship's right eye. The heroes rush into the ship as Eggman orders them to be quick, not wanting anyone else to conquer his world. Wonder Woman doesn't enjoy this, floating the idea that she'll stay to fight Eggman when Darkseid is dealt with-- something Amy says she'd enjoy seeing. Green Lantern orders Flash and Sonic to start searching, and soon, Flash finds the Emerald and Darkseid with it, telling the others to converge on his location while being unable to resist mentioning that he found it faster than Sonic; as he enters, the blue hedgehog rebuts that he went the other way and Flash got lucky, but Flash just sees this as him coping. Noticing them, Darkseid gives Sonic's world credit for having tenacity, then grabs the blue Emerald and shoots Omega Beams at them without turning to face them; Superman blocks the beams, causing him pain, then gently pushes the two speedsters to hurry up, forcing them to call a truce. Batman barks orders, telling the heroes to neutralize the Dimensional Engine, occupy Darkseid's attention, and get the Emerald; the group approaches Darkseid all at once, preparing to attack.

Superman and Darkseid clash fists, allowing Green Lantern and Silver to pin the latter down while Wonder Woman and Knuckles use the former's Lasso of Truth to tie him up. Shadow, the red Emerald in hand, is unimpressed with Darkseid, scoffing that it's "pathetic" the League ever struggled with him, but Batman warns him not to underestimate their foe and get on with what he's doing; Shadow uses Chaos Control on Darkseid, but the New God is unaffected, explaining that Father Box discovered a lot about Sonic's Earth and Chaos Control and that the promise of power and control is what brought him here. Shadow is shocked, proclaiming this impossible; Darkseid agrees that it is to most mortals, but not to Shadow because he's the Ultimate Life Form, and not to himself simply because "Darkseid is." With a tug of the Lasso of Truth, he whips it around to hit Shadow and throw Wonder Woman into Superman while Knuckles is carried along.

Watching, Sonic notes that the Dimensional Engine is charged up and asks Flash if he wants to destroy it or get the Emerald. Flash insists Emeralds are Sonic's thing and that he can use the Speed Force to disrupt the Engine. As Flash runs towards the Engine, Sonic spins around Darkseid to distract him. Getting on top of the Engine, Flash begins to vibrate his arm to allow his molecules to pass through the Apokolips energy and break critical circuits in the machine; meanwhile, Sonic attempts to pry the Emerald from Darkseid's hand, calling Darkseid out for being "really materialistic" for a god and telling him to let go. Darkseid, while noting that Sonic was beneath his notice before, insists that he won't dodge his Omega Beams again, preparing to charge them up. However, Superman flies in to forcibly avert his gaze as Knuckles and Amy rush to help Sonic, redirecting the Beams towards Flash; Silver and Green Lantern combine their powers to block the Beams from hitting him. Flash asks Cyborg for insight into what he's looking for in the Dimensional Engine, but Cyborg finds that the dimensional energies within are out of sync, calling Darkseid's crossing over to this dimension "sloppy" and insisting that the Engine, fueled by the Chaos Emerald, "isn't playing by any rules".

At that moment, Darkseid, frustrated with this interference, uses his Emerald to blast Sonic, Knuckles, and Amy off him. The blast reaches Flash and Cyborg, pushing them against the Engine as Flash begins to lower his arm into it; this causes him to accidentally activate something within the Engine, setting his arm ablaze as Cyborg flies him away. The Engine's power intensifies, and Cyborg and Tails observe it and come to a horrifying conclusion: it's destabilizing, threatening time and space with a quantum collapse. As reality crumbles apart, Shadow attempts to retrieve his Emerald while Darkseid resolves to get the Engine back under control using his own, with Superman and Wonder Woman attempting to stop Darkseid; Wonder Woman insists that the League has to hold the line. Batman orders Green Lantern to get Sonic and his friends (or "the assets", as he calls them) while Cyborg opens the emergency Boom Tube. As she and the other members of Sonic's group apart from Shadow are encased in a bubble from the Green Lantern Ring, Amy asks the Dark Knight what they're doing, with Batman simply answering that they're "putting [their] faith in [Sonic's group]." Cyborg activates the Boom Tube, and Sonic and friends-- Shadow included-- are thrown inside.

Sonic's group emerges on a teleporter pad and finds Mister Terrific there, who is surprised by their entrance and asks who they are. Groggy, Sonic introduces himself, saying that Cyborg sends his regards. Mister Terrific deduces that they're from the world Darkseid was attacking and is confused as to why the League sent them through. Tails explains that reality was collapsing and they were sent through for their protection, with Amy hurriedly adding that they have to reopen the Boom Tube so they can return to assist. However, Mister Terrific is unable to, since there are no dimensional coordinates to target. The members of Sonic's group show a mixture of shock, anger, and grief on their faces as he informs them of a grim reality: their world-- including the Justice League, Darkseid, and everything else-- is gone. They're aboard the Watchtower now, which is in the low orbit of a different Earth altogether: the Justice League's, now without its heroes around to protect it.
