The Cyclone Charge takes the form of a whirlwind with brown feathers circling around it.
In gameplay, the Cyclone Charge can only be obtained at random from Item Boxes by Longclaw. As with most other Items, Metal Sonic can also use the Cyclone Charge if he uses the Steal Item to steal it from the aforementioned user.
When using Cyclone Charge, it will place itself in front of the player directly ahead of the user. If the user is in first place when they use the Cyclone Charge however, they will drop the Item directly behind them. It has infinite range, like Lightning, and will both deal large amounts of damage and slow down those who collide with it. If the Cyclone Charge does not hit anyone, the player can fly into it and be granted a temporary boost. Also, when the user is upgraded to level 4, 10 and 16, the Cyclone will deal even more damage and grant a longer boost duration.
In order to avoid the Cyclone Charge, the player has to either jump over it or switch to another lane quickly.
