Cyan Laser[2][3] is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is a Cyan Wisp and companion of Whisper the Wolf. Cyan Laser was the trusted companion of its fallen partner, Slinger the Ocelot, who served as the team's marksman.
Appearance[]
A typical Cyan Wisp, Cyan Laser has two permanently narrowed orange eyes. It has three tentacles stemming from its head, one of which is akin to a lightning bolt in shape. It also has a spike-shaped structure pointed backwards, sticking out from its head.
History[]
Past[]
At some point in the past, Cyan Laser, along with their other fellow Wisps, and their planet came under the threat of Dr. Eggman. Fortunately, they were saved by Sonic the Hedgehog. Afterward, Cyan Laser and other fellow Wisps settled down on Earth where they would help out the residents of Earth whenever they could.[4]
At some point after the Wisps settled on Earth, a Cyan Wisp was a member of the Diamond Cutters as Slinger the Ocelot's partner, until he, along with Smithy the Lion and Claire Voyance, died in a trap set by Mimic and Eggman. After the incident, the team's Wisps flocked to Whisper the Wolf, the Diamond Cutters' last survivor. This Cyan Wisp would help out Whisper by powering her Variable Wispon under various circumstances.[5][6]
The Fate of Dr. Eggman[]
During a trip to one of Dr. Eggman's bases, Whisper and her team of Wisps (Cyan laser included) encountered Sonic and Silver. Despite Whisper's initial mistrust, once her Cyan Wisp and other Wisps openly greeted Sonic, Whisper chose to team up with the duo. When the newly-formed trio then took on a horde of Badniks, Whisper's Cyan Wisp came to Whisper's defense when she was at the mercy of the robots. Fortunately, Sonic and Silver destroyed the Badniks before they could harm them.[6]
Battle For Angel Island[]
When Whisper joined the Resistance on a mission to liberate Angel Island from the Eggman Empire, her Cyan Wisp and other Wisps came along with her and aided her in battle. After accomplishing their mission, Whisper's Cyan Wisp celebrated their victory with Whisper.[7][8][9]
Bonds of Friendship[]
After Whisper and Tangle got Jewel the Beetle and the stolen goods from the Mineral Museum back from the Babylon Rogues, Whisper's Cyan Wisp would help clean up the museum and return all the stolen stones.[10]
Tangle & Whisper[]
The Wisps support Tangle in her quest for adventure, from Sonic the Hedgehog: Tangle & Whisper #1.
Another day at the Mineral Museum, while Whisper explained who Mimic was to Tangle and Jewel, Whisper's Cyan Wisp was speeding around the museum. It sped past the Green Wisp, nearly making it drop several minerals. Luckily, the Cyan, Pink and Green Wisps managed to catch them. The Wisps soon gathered around Tangle to look at pictures of Mimic impersonating Sonic. When Tangle decided she should help Whisper catch him, the Wisps supported the lemur. After Whisper initially refused, the Wisps surrounded Tangle, eager for her to join them on the mission. Following this, Whisper agreed to let Tangle accompany her and the Wisps celebrated.[11]
Later, after Tangle and Whisper encountered Mimic, the Cyan Wisp listened to Whisper as she told Tangle of her past. Tangle learned the mask could translate the Wisps' language when, while wearing it, she was shocked and amazed to hear the Cyan Wisp proudly speak of how well the Diamond Cutters worked together. The Wisps soon convinced Whisper to allow Tangle to see what Mimic did to the team. Later, the Cyan Wisp helped create a message to give to Mimic so that he would easily find and challenge them again. After the girls managed to defeat Mimic, the Cyan Wisp joined them in going to Tails' workshop to have him imprison the shapeshifter.[5][12]
The Last Minute[]
In Spiral Hill Village, Whisper became hysterical upon learning from Sonic that Tangle got infected by the Metal Virus. Her Cyan Wisp helped Amy and other Wisps drag the wolf back to the Rescue Shuttle when she tried to run back into the village. In the shuttle, the Wisps tried to comfort Whisper as she cried into Cream's lap.[13]
All or Nothing[]
After Super Sonic and Super Silver reversed the effects of the Metal Virus on the world, the Zombots were cured. This included Tangle, who was soon happily swarmed by Whisper, Whisper's Cyan Wisp and the other Wisps.[14]
Zeti Hunt![]
While Whisper's Cyan Wisp accompanied Whisper to Restoration HQ, it would assist Whisper when she fought the intruding Deadly Six, namely by powering Whisper's Variable Wispon so she could shoot Zomom and Zeena. However, Zavok eventually used his powers to short out the Variable Wispon, causing the Cyan Wisp to be released from it in a daze. After the fight, the Cyan Wisp found out that Belle had been kidnapped by Dr. Starline.[15]
Trial by Fire[]
It was later with some reluctance that Whisper's Cyan Wisp joined Whisper when she departed from Restoration HQ in order to keep her friends out of harms way after learning that Mimic was free. Although Tangle caught them departing, she was unable to convince the Cyan Wisp and its friends to stay.[16]
Another Grand Adventure for Jet the Hawk[]
One day, Whisper's Cyan Wisp snuck aboard the Babylon Rogues' blimp and stole Jet's calzone for Whisper to eat. When Jet gave chase and confronted them, the Cyan Wisp offered him a banana to make amends, but he refused it. Jet was soon captured by a giant Super-Badnik that Whisper was hunting, forcing her to ride his Type-J to rescue him. With some effort, the Cyan Wisp hoisted Whisper's Variable Wispon up to her and powered it so she could shoot the Super-Badnik. Following this victory, the Cyan Wisp offered Jet his partially-eaten calzone, though he said it still owed him a fresh one.[17]
Overpowered[]
During her fight with Surge, Whisper brought her Cyan Wisp. She lent it to Sonic, who transformed into Cyan Laser with it. Surge forcibly absorbed the Cyan Wisp via the Dynamo Cage and used it against Sonic.[18] During a fight with Surge, Sonic, Tails, and Metal Sonic, the Dynamo Cage would break, freeing the Cyan Wisp.[19] The Wisp would join Sonic and follow him back to Restoration HQ, where it reunited with Whisper.[20]
Urban Warfare[]
Whisper's Cyan Wisp accompanied her during the Diamond Cutters' attack on Eggperial City. It also joined her in the picnic that followed the destruction of the city.[21]
Misadventures and Endless Summer[]
Whisper's Cyan Wisp was with her during her stay with the Diamond Cutters at Restoration HQ.[22] The Cyan Wisp went with her during a beach day with Tangle, Jewel, and Sonic.[23]
Personality[]
Cyan Laser is peaceful, helpful, and friendly in personality, and it enjoys spending its time with others. Like the other Wisps, it does not like fighting much, but it is still a brave and good-hearted soul who will try to protect its friends at all
This Cyan Wisp, was known to not enjoy taking photographs displayed a hint of shyness.
