Crisis City (Sonic Generations)
Next stage >>

Crisis City is a stage in the game, Sonic Generations. It represents Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) in the Modern Era of the game. A rival battle with Silver the Hedgehog is also fought here and can be accessed from the level hub. This is likely part of an alternate timeline as the events of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) were negated due to the ending of it.

Gameplay

Act 1

Classic Sonic, as usual, has to get to his Goal Post. However, the tornado blows the piece of building it's on away. You must chase after the Goal Post and avoid the tornado's winds in order to finish the level. At the end of the stage you have to push your way through a gale that is constantly blowing Sonic back.

Act 2

As with previous acts, Sonic's mission is to reach the goal ring. He must cross fiery chasms and lava pits, before running toward a tornado of flame while dodging the debris it throws at Sonic.

Silver the Hedgehog Rival Boss Fight

The rival boss battle with Silver the Hedgehog is set alongside a long highway in Crisis City with Silver flying alongside Sonic. Silver will attack Sonic with a wide variety of Psychokinetic attacks. Silver starts off the fight by launching a car directly at Sonic. Silver can attack by picking up various objects from the highway to launch at Sonic. However, at this point, Sonic can use his homing attack on said objects to attack Silver. Silver can also attack by creating a large ram to charge at Sonic. Sonic has to jump onto the ram and boost forward to get close to Silver and hit him. During the battle, Silver can throw a Psychic knife, a large blade of psychic energy, either horizontally or vertically to try and attack Sonic, SIlver will also hover three cars directly above Sonic and try to crush him with them, however, this is easy to avoid as Silver will always smash one car downwards before the other two. Silver's final and strongest attack, known as Meteor Smash, has him gather up all manner of objects into a large ball and launch it into the highway behind Sonic, and after that, Silver will try to crush Sonic with a container. Sonic must avoid this while boosting to catch up with Silver and attack him, since doing so causes Silver to fall to the ground and get crushed by his own ball of rubble, ending the fight.

Hard Mode

In hard mode, Sliver is much faster in executing his attacks, Silver will also attack with his Psychic Knife multiple times in succession. When trying to crush Sonic with three cars, Silver will usually smash them all down at once. During Silver's final attack, Silver will try to crush Sonic with two containers in succession instead of one.

Trivia

  • This is one of the only stages in Sonic Generations to come from an alternate timeline. The other is Stardust Speedway, which is set in the Bad Future.
  • The remix from this stage is very different from the original version, it's more heavy, but still sounds like the original.
  • This stage is the only stage that is also a boss stage on the console version. Interestingly, Sonic and Silver never actually encountered each other face-to-face on this stage.
  • One of the balls of debris Silver throws contains a "Chao in Space III" sign. It's also in the Hub World.
  • Silver is the only rival boss not to be announced in any of the era trailers. Instead, Perfect Chaos (a boss of the Dreamcast Era) is shown at the end of the Modern Era trailer.
  • If you look to the lower right hand side of the hub world you can see a blue rusted sign saying Central Park.
  • The last part of the stage, where Sonic rushes towards the tornado of flames down a ruined highway as it throws debris at him is, curiously, in reverse to the original level, where Sonic had to run down a highway 'away from the tornado as it threw debris at Sonic.
  • After Blaze assists Sonic in the "Blaze: Piercing the Flames" mission in Crisis City and talk to her in the hub world she remarks "I never thought I'd find myself in Crisis City again", leaving a giant plot hole in how she remembers the place.
  • Sonic does not use a snowboard in this level as he did in Sonic the Hedgehog (2006). The most likely explanation for this is that City Escape already used a snowboard.
  • In the "Blaze: Piercing the Flames" mission, Blaze can be used to defeat Iblis' minions.
  • This is the only stage in the Modern Era to have Modern Sonic running when the words: "Ready, Go!" appear on screen.
  • Like Station Square this stage's locations are based on New York City.
  • This is the only lava stage in both versions of Sonic Generations.
  • This is the only stage in Sonic Generations with no robotic enemies.
  • Takashi Iizuka said there was going to be a cutscene when the Sonics completed the stage but it got cut.
