Continue Monitor (コンティニュー Kontinyū?, lit. "Continue") is a video monitor power-up that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. When obtained, it grants a Continue.
The video monitors that serve as Continue Monitors have the word "CONT" written on their black screen in white.
When breaking open a Continue Monitor, the player receives a Continue. As such, in case the player loses all of their lives, the Continue will let them start a level over with three extra lives once.
Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit)
The Continue Monitors made their first appearance in Sonic the Hedgehog (8-bit). In this game, they only appear in the Special Stages.
Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball (8-bit)
In the 8-bit version of Sonic the Hedgehog Spinball, the Continue Monitors made a return. In this game, they are featured as hidden objects in small chambers in the corners of each level.
- An otherwise unused, but fully functional Continue Monitor also appears in the 8-bit Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but it is locked in a wall so it is impossible to get without cheat codes.
